Big predictable Wetherspoons pub. Spills over both sides of the airport ie both pre and post security. Its always busy here and despite the size and the extra seating area over from the pub (in the departures side) getting a seat (and clean table ) is your main issue. As there are departure boards in the pub - last minute lingering is encouraged ....so you wont get those people to move early. Not a lot of alternatives if you want more than a sandwich or a snack. The menu has taken a hefty hit compared to its highstreet offerings. I can only assume they have chosen to pass on the scary airport rent to its customers. Mains all effectively nudging over a tenner. Good kids menu - ive never brought the kids here before (honest) but they offer two sizes of kids meal. Calorie counts are offered on all meals..interesting that the vegan/ veggie stuff can be more. No pub toilets so both sides utilise the airport facilities which are close enough anyway- if you know where they are. So it offers hearty meals at airport prices. Comfy seats. And either an acceptable pint to wash it down ( real ale snobs look away now) or enough booze for any flying courage or hen party needs. So in the absence of someone building a better alternative (i see Brew Dog bottled it with their tiddly kiosk) or someone changing the air rage laws -this will remain the main...
Read moreDear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I received at your Wetherspoons branch in Edinburgh Airport on .09/10/24. I ordered a pizza, but when it was served, I found it was unsliced. I politely asked a member of your serving staff to slice it for me, but I was surprised to be informed that there would be a £1 charge for slicing the pizza. I cannot believe it’s even something someone has to ask for when ordering a pizza!?
To add to my concern, the staff member insisted that this charge must be paid in cash, and card payments were not accepted for this particular request. This seemed highly irregular, especially in an environment where card payments are typically encouraged, particularly at an airport.
I found the situation both frustrating and unprofessional, as I would expect such a basic request to be part of the service, especially in a restaurant. Furthermore, the insistence on cash payment raises concerns regarding the legitimacy of this charge.
I would appreciate it if you could investigate this matter and provide clarification on your policy regarding food service and charges. I trust that you will take this issue seriously, as it does not reflect well on the high standards Wetherspoons is known for.
I look forward to...
Read moreI visit this place whenever I pass through Edinburgh Airport. They do descent food and a good selection of beers. I am writing this review with great disappointment. I went to the till to order food. I had one customer I front of me who got served. When it came to my turn, the waitress moved to a different till and started serving a customer who came after me. I waited for her to finish. But, after serving that customer, she moved to serve another customer who just came up. She just looked at me and looked away to ensure, I understood that she wasn't happy to serve me. At that moment I mentioned to her that I was there before that customer. Her reply was I have now started to serve this customer and you have to wait. When I mentioned to her that I was there first, she replied that talking about it will not help me get served any quicker.
I had to mention this to the manager who handled the situation in a very professional way. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't even rate them 2 stars. I would recommend that if any of your staff has aversion towards serving customers of other ethnicities, they be moved to a non customer facing role. An international Airport gets customers of all nationalities and ethnicities. This is not the right place for such a...
