A new type of Asian experience for us. Partner is from Hong Kong so we were excited to find “condensed milk eggy bread (or French toast for the posher folks!)”
It’s a simply decorated walk up service counter with the option to order on screen. Holds around 16 (?) & is more a grab & eat/go. 4pm on Mon it had 3 other sit in customers & a few Deliveroo cyclists. We were never rushed despite them closing soon.
Ordered a Crispy Non Chicken sushi sandwich which came with the option of Reg, wasabi or spicy Mayo. Essentially a giant sushi roll that is easy to handle by being wrapped in Nori. Massively filling, ratios were great so had nice mix of texture. Batter was like karrage chicken-sooo crispy.
Two tofu pockets. Wasn’t sure what these were. Seems they are a pancake made from tofu? And stuffed with choice of filling. We chose spicy tuna & prawn Mayo. Again, both so good on flavour and texture but at £3 a piece…it’s an expensive way to have a feed.
Stars of the show-Brioche soaked in condensed milk and mixed with a choice of Nutella, biscoff, or in my case, coconut spread which I can only find in Philippines! This was a big box and I absolutely fought for more than half my share! Would come back for this alone!
Had a pouch of Hokkaido milk tea. Adorable packaging. Actually most of the packaging seemed recyclable but got combined in one bin :/
For just over £20 this was a super yum and surprisingly very filling feed for 2.
Definitely recommend. Staff were friendly in directions/recommendations & served in 10min.
Only downside, if being picky is that at the time we went it didn’t feel very social. A little clinical. Think a radio would really help this. Maybe it just wasn’t on then. Won’t stop multiple...
Read moreThis place offers some interesting selection of light meals/snacks, but a bit overpriced given the portion size and given that everything can be pre-made and all is left is to heat up or assemble them. Also the flavour is more towards the sweeter side for a savoury meal. The first time I got the 3 tofu pockets, which cost £10 (£3.5 each if you buy individually), honestly I was expecting some plump rice balls but they turned out to be just a mouthful, the only upside is they are using short grain rice, but other than that it was just disappointing: the seaweed salad was way too sour and the beef was way too sweet. The second time I tried a proper meal option, a sandwich, hoping it would change my opinion, sadly it didn’t. But it is a better value than the tofu pockets as it costs less (£7.8) and is not worse than the tofu pockets. But I sincerely don’t understand why the dressing is on one side of the sandwich instead of inside it, making you essentially eating all the dressing in the first few bites. I guess they care more about how it looks than what it...
Read moreI wanted to try this place for a while, so when finally in, I decided to follow a recommendation of the friend and one of their rice-wich. I got Tempura Prawn Rice-wich with a side of Chicken and Vegetable Gyozas. Gyozas were nice, even though I could barely taste the chicken in it. Rice-wich is certainly interesting idea and while prawns were very tasty, there was definitely not enough of them to balance the ratio of the rice. And for the price of £9 it was actually pretty small. While I don't think I will be back too often I would still like to try some of their other stuff that are more Korean or the sweet toast. If you are looking for something quick and different from the everyday Scottish food, then for sure, go try it out, however I do find it...
