There’s no indication of what you’ll find through the passage but, once inside, it’s an intimate, inviting and charming courtyard garden. Beautifully maintained, this hidden gem is a quiet break from the busy street and features several gardens with seating, fragrant flowers and multiple paths for walking. It’s the perfect place to sit and reflect.

Located just off the Royal Mile, close to the Scottish Parliament and the Palace of Holyrood. It’s worth a stop in if you have a few minutes.

Note: Dog friendly. No playground. No restrooms. Main area wheelchair accessible. Cobblestone and gravel paths with difference in levels and access from opposite the Royal Mile is only via stairs. There are also “visiting hours” as to when the park is open...

Nothing to see here! Nobody should come to this amazing, secluded little garden... UNLESS they need a breather from the hustle and bustle of the Royal Mile, then I'd have to recommend Dunbar Close Gardens. Designed for both local residents to enjoy as well as anyone in the city who might need 5 minutes of peace from overwhelming their senses, this place will give you just that in the style of 17th century garden/gardens.

BEWARE - only downside/caveat to the place is if you sit long enough, or if you bring food, you WILL see a rat or two rat 🐀 and they might come confidently close until you scare them off...

An absolutely stunning little hidden garden away from all the business.

A local shop owner mentioned this place in passing as a nice place to go to get away from the city and just recharge. Unfortunately we came at the time they were closing the gates for the day (5pm?) So we didn't get to see much, but they let us frolick thru right quick as they made sure the place was clear. Seems like it would be a lovely place to go, and from what the shopkeep said, it is never busy.

Also has some in site pamphlets detailing that the garden is managed by the Mushroom Trust! 🍄...

This surprised me! Perfect example of Edinburgh charm. Walking down the street and just happened to look left and saw an opening into this small peaceful area. Seems like a place that some local residents swing by to catch a little sunshine and read a book. A number of benches, very little green space, but just pleasant gardens. Wouldn’t make a specific out of the way to visit, but worth popping in if walking in the area.
