Chef Bako — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

Couldn’t get in at a high collar spot across the street, and crossed over to Chef Bako’s! We were the lucky ones!!! We were greeted warmly by the Chef and staff! We each ordered the traditional Fish and Chips. Takes a few minutes to prepare, and then fry the fish and chips to a perfect brown and crispness. Served with a wedge of lemon, a cup of really, really good cocktail sauce, and a cup of Mashy peas (we had never tried them, and are fans now!). Price was reasonable , and the food was plentiful!!! First time trying this 22/7/23 and not a recommendation for me to try as I accidentally bumped into it as I was searching for food. Very glad I did bump into it as the food that was given to me was plentiful, tasty and good value for money and quality. The place has zero access for wheelchair users unfortunately but if you wanted to give it a try and accept the challenge to get in it would be worth it for the food. Staff were very good at their job. Conversation was flowing. They thought I was a tourist as this place gets a lot of them. Just had dinner here after finding myself without dinner plans one night of my vacation to Edinburgh and I was craving some kebab. It ended up being good news for me!

This place is excellent! The food is fresh and flavorful, and cooked on a real grill (and tastes to match!). Everything is seasoned perfectly, plus the chef/owner is so very friendly.

There’s a small counter to eat in, which I did but I imagine they mostly do takeaway. I even saw you can order online!

My only regret is that my trip isn’t longer because I wish I could come back five more...
