I think it's worth pushing open the door to The Remedy's sit-in area and exploring inside.
It might not look like it from the outside, but it's pretty extensive inside, with several seating areas and some absolutely fantastic reading nooks. There's even a flickering fire (fake) with woodcuts, wine bottles and comfortable chairs.
Tip: Although it's table service, get up and pay at the counter when you're finished. I kept on waiting, the longest part of my visits until a staffer told me that was the thing to do.
The food is Mediterranean and delicious. I discover mezze with my visits to The Remedy, and when I'm in the mood for something warm, healthy and comforting, I go back.
And there's quite the range too! The latest menu is very much suitable from breakfast to lunch. You can find something if you just nibble, but there are large platters for a hearty lunch.
It's not all Med, though. I find it hard to resist the baking on offer in the comfortable cafe, and I sometimes have a fruit scone with jam as a way to finish my meal. Otherwise, I'll go just for the coffee and something freshly baked.
Tip: The toilet is extensive, with an improvised changing table for kids and lots of space for an average-sized wheelchair (complete with help pull cord).
Staff at The Remedy have been both efficient and friendly. Even when I step in dripping from the rain outside, that's been the case! The coffee comes quickly on such warm-up encounters.
I've seen the Remedy reasonably busy, but I've never had to wait for a table. That's due to the staff being on the ball, serving people quickly, but it's to the hidden size of the place.
Overall? Easy to recommend The Remedy, even if there are loads of other good places nearby and I think this cafe is the best for a catchup with a friend and a quiet, relaxed chat. It's the right atmosphere for...
Read moreI spotted this cafe while passing by on the bus and thought it looked lovely from the outside. Having seen the excellent reviews online, my wife and I and our two dogs ventured in at lunchtime today. Immediately we were struck at how cosy, spacious and comfortable the cafe appeared. We were Immediately greeted by a staff member who explained we could take any seat and we should order at the counter. We chose a small table, table 5, which had two lovely armchairs, one with a high back and lots of space around our table for our dogs to get comfortable. The menu looked amazing and my wife and I quickly made our choices. My wife ordered the halloumi croque and I ordered the Turkish eggs with two coffees. We were both delighted with the food and coffee. I had never had turkish eggs before and they were amazing! I would highly recommend this cafe and will...
Read moreI tried this place with my husband for a weekend brunch and neither of us was disappointed. I instantly liked the relaxed curated atmosphere. The staff welcomed us promptly and explained that all orders are taken at the counter - which I thought was a great idea to reduce waiting time. We found our table and soon received complimentary water. Nice touch! I had the Mediterranean wrap and my husband the Turkish poached eggs. Both dishes were very tasty and well seasoned. My wrap came with a small side salad but I wish it had also included some kind of sauce. Thankfully I was able to dip it in the garlic yogurt of my husband’s dish. Overall we had a very pleasant experience and will probably come back to try something else from the...
