The service was amazing, we had multiple allergies/intolerances and they were so patient and even provided a seperate gluten free menu and Soy sauce. Over the phone we were told they could do gluten free ramen, but sadly.this was not the case and this was a let down but thankfully there was more choice for the person who was gluten free.

The ramen for myself was not what I expected. Usually seafood ramen is in a light broth with delicate flavours. The seafood was browned and the broth was a chargrilled onion flavour. It really wasn't what I was expecting and there were no descriptions on the menu. It was also served with carrot and edame beans, the carrot was a strange choice and the edame beans I cannot eat. If I knew they were in there I would have asked for something different. No bok choi, seaweed or beansprouts. Nothing traditional.

The sushi was of a high quality, and good rice.

The drinks are limited, and the green tea is not brewed it is a teabag. I didn't get offered any refills despite it being "bottomless".

I wouldn't visit again with so much choice in Colchester of excellent traditional ramen, however with their clear allergen menu I would go again if I was with someone who needed it. I would opt for...

The environment at Koryuu was so lovely. The soft jazz music really set a mellow tone for the evening, which I really loved for my birthday dinner. The food was delicious and was served efficiently - so everybody was able to eat together. The staff was also so accommodating and friendly, all of my guests felt so comfortable and happy. I spoke to the owners of the restaurant (Suman and Sujan) and they were so understanding of all my requests and last minute changes for my dinner. The waitress, Ramsi, was so sweet and approachable - I was so glad to have her waiting my table because she communicated so nicely with everyone. Hannah is such a delight - extremely helpful and well knowledgeable about where everything is at the restaurant. I am so glad I chose Koryuu for my dinner - would most definitely...

The owner of this store dismissed my concerns by claiming my review was fake. In response, we conducted a poll in a WhatsApp group where members shared their experiences with Koryu. I expected some negative experiences, but not to this extent. Now, it's backed by 22 riders who voted, confirming they also had a bad experience at Koryu.

When you call out incompetence, an incompetent person will just blame you instead of trying to understand why you’re speaking up. Instead of fixing the real issues, you’re just shifting the blame, which is exactly what I’d expect from a poorly run organization.

They not only patronise Riders but belittle them by not letting them inside and keep them outside, treating them like they’re less important than other customers. This isn’t just unfair it’s a basic human...

What a brilliant little Japanese restaurant right on Colchester High Street (next to The George). We went for Saturday lunch and as a bonus discovered there's 20% off the menu from 12-4pm. The room felt a little bare but had an impressive bar, and service couldn't be faulted. We started with drinks - a Chilli Margarita and Sapporo Japanese lager, both delicious and perfectly chilled. There is something for everyone on the menu, not just sushi. We shared a mixture of dishes - vegetable gyoza, ebi tempura (stretched prawns) and tofu vegetable ramen, but the standout dish was the Green Dragon Urumaki Roll - so fresh and perfectly presented. All this and a large bottle of water came to £58. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

Back here for my third visit. They’ve just moved into a new venue next to the George Hotel on the high street. Much more room and a really good vibe to the new place. The rest room facilities now more accessible ( no more clambering up those steep stairs) including a large disabled / baby changing toilet) . Food is still great. Spring rolls, tofu starters as good as ever. Probably the best broccoli dish I’ve ever had. There’s a real attempt to cater for vegans and vegetarians (unlike most Japanese restaurants). Each category on the menu has a vegan alternative that is as tasty as the fish / meat version (or at least from those I’ve tasted). A great addition to the Colchester food scene
