I hate these kind of places, they sell sub-standard garbage to tourist because they know they are day trippers. The owners aren't particularly bothered about repeat custom so they churn out this disgusting barely edible food - SAVE YOUR MONEY !!!
Everybody seemed happy enough and the service was pretty decent apart from when asking for a couple of forks, the young assistant picked them up by the fork end rather than the handles, which seemed a little unhygienic and unnecessary - But it was the food that stole the show and for all the wrong reasons: The chips were dry and yet a bit greasy at the same time and nowhere near enough salt n vinegar as all customers are asked to wait outdoors, so you can't participate in that particular ritual. The fish was flat and completely tasteless, it was awful with no meaty texture , it was flat, tasteless and flakey and the batter was dense in fat and zero in flavour, the peas tasted like green water - The Vimto was great but that's in a can and from Manchester, so that's what I'd expect.
We have chippies in Manchester 80 miles away from that coast that taste ten times better with chunky meaty flavoursome fish, so it absolutely baffles me how a chippy that practically sits on the banks of the fishing trade where trawlers are moored, can get such a simple dish so horribly wrong - DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY GO TO MCDONALDS OR KFC AT LEAST YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WILL GET AND SPEND HALF OF THE £12 ON THIS...
Read moreThis has been our go to for fish and chips when visiting Conwy for many years but after yesterday we won’t be returning. As usual we went upstairs to find that there was no table service which was disappointing and we didn’t see any signs to say that you needed to order downstairs and take your food back up. The vibe had definitely changed for the worse with people eating out of takeaway cartons rather than on a plate with a knife and fork. I ordered two Cod and Chips and a portion of mushy peas which took about 15-20 minutes to prepare. The shop was fairly busy but as I was order 21 and they handed out order 16 as I was being served it wasn’t overly busy. The ‘cod’ was the thinnest piece of fish we have ever had, was tasteless and not enjoyable at all. The batter was crispy but also very greasy. Things got worse with the chips. The chips were like a portion of scraps and when we did manage to find a decent sized one they were hard and not at all pleasant. They looked and tasted as though they had been reheated several times. Such a shame as they have always been superb in the past and we have recommended many...
Read moreRe doing my review on Fisherman Chip Shop. Been here 3 years on the run and always left a good review so the fish and chips can be good. Went Sunday first of all the Atmosphere was terrible the young lady serving face would crack if she had to smile ( At a none Regular) quite happy to smile at a regular customer just ordering chips and wave at people passing but placing an order felt like I had inconvenience her even though the place was busy. Nice second lady serving up the order can at least smile the fish fryer did not make eye contact with any one when I was in the shop 20 minutes in total. Now to 3 fish and chips 2 mushy peas £30 all 3 fish different sizes from small to very small. Well the fish is lovely and fresh with a good taste and texture every thing was dripping in oil all three boxes I drained oil out after serving on to plates. Come on guys there are 3 fish and chip shops in a 1 minute walk if you don’t want holiday makers making your shop busy put a sign up saying we prefer locals. The photo is 1 and a 1/2...
