I went in yesterday. They adhere strictly to the rules helping us all to avoid further covid-19 outbreaks. I was served by a very polite and smiling Jack at my table. I ordered the steak and ale pie which arrived within 20 mins and was realistically priced at under £15. I'm ashamed to say that I never even came close to finishing the meal. The 'pie' had such an inordinate amount of quality juicy steak I can't imagine they make anywhere near the profit it deserves. I made certain to let the chef Dave know that it was only my poor appetite that led to any food not being enthusiastically devoured. I simply wasn't prepared for the portion sizes. The Bear has a bar and a dedicated restaurant and a large outside space too. I had a local ale £3 and a craft lager at £3.65. The pub is dog friendly and has at least 4 televisions showing sports in a non intrusive manner. I highly recommend a visit although I confess the clientele are mostly friendly and local so if you object to having people talk to you with genuine interest then perhaps it's not for...

We arranged with The Black Bear for a BBQ for 17 people at 7pm on a Monday evening. From the initial planning of menus, timings and numbers to the evening itself, we could not have asked for more from the team at The Black Bear. The food was fantastic, with home marinated meat, home-made burgers, locally sourced sausages and glorious salad and coleslaw, again home-made. Despite being in the middle of a busy service, the front of house team were very attentive, friendly and efficient, and Rich, who was cooking at the BBQ, made sure we were kept supplied with freshly cooked food. The fresh fruit salad to finish with was almost too much, but we finished that off too, very tasty! The whole team back in the office on the Tuesday morning were very complimentary about the experience, so much so, that we are already in talks to have our Christmas party at The Black Bear. I am looking forward to December already,...

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at The black bear! Firstly, the inn's menu features a range of dishes made with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The menu includes beautifully presented and delicious classic British pub food. The inn also has a good selection of local beers, ciders, and wines to accomodate your meal. The Black Bear Inn has a historic and charming interior, with exposed wooden beams, stone walls, and an open fire. The inn dates back to the 16th century, and has been carefully restored to maintain its original character - absolutely stunning. I have to say, I was really impressed with how clean the windows were - they were absolutely spotless - great view of all the hustle and bustle.

I can't speak highly enough of the staff - they were so helpful and friendly throughout our entire visit.

We enjoyed our visit so much that we're already planning to come back the next time we're in the...

If you’re looking for homemade, fresh, down to earth food, this is the place! The family who owns the pub are super kind, and were really welcoming to us bumbling in with all our bulky luggage. For lunch I had a homemade fish finger ‘burger’ which was deeeeelicious and quite affordable as it was on their ‘lighter lunch menu’. My friend had the battered cod with homemade tartare sauce, mushy peas, new season potatoes and salad from their full lunch menu… all was lovely! They have a beautiful outdoor areas as well as inside. They are dog friendly too. We were recommended this spot by a local, so you know it’s tried and tested! Do visit, it’s a lovely pub.

The only reason for the 2 star rating is due to the fact that it is a very pretty place. That's it, as it has nothing else to offer. I waited so long for my coffee that my friends has almost finished drinking up. The biggest issue was the staff, so Kurt and very grumpy. This is not the way to talk to customers people, sort it out. Don't grunt at people with you one word answers. Try to smile and chat, this way YOU may begin to actually enjoy your day. Try to find a positive, rather than treating every customer as an issue.

I extended my day in Moreton-In-Marsh (after a long hike to Chastleton) and really enjoyed this place. They found me a table in advance of a later reservation w/ the promise I'd be done, which wasn't a problem and I never felt rushed. The local ale was excellent but the star of the show was the slow cooked pork belly. It was fall apart tender but had the best crisped top. Super! It's small (seating-wise) but not cramped. I can see why you should make a reservation. Highly recommend.
