Revisited this local pub for the first time in years. We didn't know it was quiz night, so it was heaving. We sat outside on picnic benches which are a great addition as being next to Butts Park it's quite a pleasant outdoor drinking spot...not many of them in Coventry. I'm sure real Ale drinkers will all rate this pub 5 stars and it obviously has a loyal fan base. The bar serves mainly real ales, bottled largers and little in the way of spirits. It seems perpetually in a state of being half way through a refurbishment...which means it's very scruffy. The inside space is tiny (too small for quiz night but probably cozy feeling normally), but allowing so many dogs in with people on quiz night made it a bit of an obstacle course to get to the bar and the whole room smelt quite strongly of damp dog. Read moreI hadn't visited the Broomfield for a few years when I found it a bit unloved. However my son and nephew went in recently and told me it was really good.I was dropping my son off in Coventry City and had half an hour to kill so we popped in to be greeted by a fabulous Landlady who had a great variety of beers for sale. These people have instilled their own personality on the pub and have chosen their market to suit the pub creating a great atmosphere. I will make sure I won't be driving next time and spend some serious drinking time down there.I wish the new owners all the best and from what I have seen so far they are getting it to be a fab little jewel in Coventry's;Pub scene-Best wishes...

Afterwards I wished I had left more time to sample more than one drink, such was the rounded flavour and quality. The appearance isn't polished but it doesn't need to be. The tavern was warm and welcoming with a mixture of regulars and spectators. Staff kept the queues to a minimum whilst being very friendly. The beer isn't the usual commercial offering but instead is a wide selection of well chosen offerings, which were well looked after. I wish I lived closer so I could visit more often as subsequent drinks elsewhere were no where near the...
