My full experience of Akbars. Please read through.
Walk-in experience :
Made us wait for 10 min in the lobby even though the table we booked was already free and ready.
The staff called us out like this "5 people, follow me!" when taking to table.
The staff ordered this before we even sit "We will not give any extra naan, chapati, curry once you place the order. You can only order once as we are very busy"
Who would like to go to restaurant to be treated like this? Still, we had long day so we sit to eat.
Food experience :
It's not enough to just say that "taste of every item caters to British tounge". The food here has serious issues.
Too much food colouring (see the photos) . It's dark red in colour without any red chillies taste.
No water provided at table. (Find it in the photos if you can)
Peshwari naan had no dry fruits, Garlic naan had no garlic. But it was like Indian naan, so I give them a point for this.
In the name of mix raita, I got curd with salad topping. It is disgusting they call it as raita.
They missed the raita while writing order and later blamed on us that we didn't order it.
Served main course before starter.
Served raita after main course (after reminding thrice)
I don't eat non - veg but my friends who went with me said this about non-veg Portion of Akbars special biryani is 1/4 of any other place like Chennai dosa.
Starters are dry and hard to chew. It's disgusting.
Please avoid this place, the service and food both are...
Read moreWorst experience ever. I went with my mother and father who were celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary. Half way through the meal we noticed a hair in our food. Not laying on top, but within the curry itself. This was promptly reported to the staff who were very UNapolagetic, and we all stopped eating as we didn't know what other body parts might be floating about in there. Naturally you would expect a heavy discount as the meal was in effect ruined, however when the bill came back only about £8 had been taken off. We asked to discuss this with the manager, who was very reluctant to come out. When he did show himself he immediately started poking his finger into my 55 year old dads face telling him to get out of his restaurant. He was very very aggressive, squaring up to my father and shouting at him. His behaviour was so over the top that my mother actually started filming it on her phone. The manger did not like this and attempted to twist my mothers wrist so that she would drop the phone. Now rude service I think is fair enough, but I don't think you should be laying your hands on a woman who is almost 60 - no matter what the situation. The staff proceeded to literally push us out of the restaurant while the manger continued to hurl abuse - as I said absolutely awful experience.

Read moreWe booked a table for six people that was really only big enough for four. All crammed into such a small space. There wasn't enough room for drinks and food at the same time. The staff appeared to be overwhelmed with another large group of customers and so our customer experience was rushed and very poor. I asked for a mixed Tandoori starter, that arrived instead of sizzling hot, lukewarm and was missing the lamb chop and was really greasy, a real poor choice for me. Main meals arrived whilst still eating the starters, with absolutely no room to put the food. The waiter wanted me to hold my Nan in my hand as there was nowhere to put it, can you actually believe that? It's laughable! The mains were greasy, bland and definitely rushed, such a bad experience. Not one of our group of six finished the meal it was that poor. We asked for the bill and left. A very disappointing evening and experience considering that all six of us travelled back into Coventry, our workplace, to support the local economy and have our Christmas meal together. We have learnt from our mistake and vowed never to return to Akbar's as there are better choices locally. We have all suffered with our stomachs today, the day after the meal. Not good to be honest, really shocked and disappointed with...
