Came up on my media about this restaurant, so I decided to go down and give it a try.. at first glance as I pulled up to the restaurant, it seemed nicely done.. modern.. couldn't find any parking. Luckily, a member of staff was walking just outside.. asked him for parking instructions.. he said it was ok to park in carpark next to the restaurant.. only to go into the restaurant and question if it was ok to park there. I was told that's not their parking and better to move the car.. so it's not a good start.. the restaurant is very nicely done inside.. gold black throughout.. water features and lighting all looked really good.. got me seated within 5 minutes of being there.. friendly staff.. all well dressed.. given the menu.. I wouldn't say it's a really big menu.. but something for everyone.. complimentary poppadoms to start.. and offered tap water.. should have been offering plain or sparkling water, at least for the standards the restaurant is trying to set .. ordered a steak.. some fish curry.. mushroom and onion gratin.. coke zero and the 24k gold non alcoholic wine.. waited quite a while before asking for the drinks to be served.. then came the drinks and the 24k gold wine with sparkles.. should have been put in a bucket with ice and kept cold for the price it is.. food came 10/15 min later the steak was med rare slightly warm and chips with pepper corn and mac and cheese.. I quite enjoyed it. But I wasn't given a steak knife, so trying to cut the streak, my whole plate was sliding back and forth. I could have done with maybe a non-slip mat under the plate.. The water cress was pointless on the plate more for decorative purposes.. the mushroom and onion gratin was so salty that I had to send it back to get another made and didn't really enjoy it after.. the fish curry was ok.. the waitress did her best to get it made again.. for dessert ordered a chocolate cake that was advertised as having a gooey centre melting out, but all we got was a dry chocolate sponge cake.. so I sent it back, waiting around 10 minutes for another. It would have been nice if I had been offered some complimentary drinks while we waited for the dessert again.. and this time it was warm but also a dry chocolate sponge, no soft centre.. sadly, too dry to finish.. as they are a new restaurant i Was expecting the owners or manager to come apologise for the bad experience that we was having. but no one came. i did see the gentleman dressed in a suit speaking to customers and overheard him using the f' word.. thinking maybe I miss heard.. waiting for the bill, the suited gentleman came over and asked about the experience and food introduced himself as Jay and he was the manager and i gave my opinions regarding my visit.. to my surprise, I heard him use the f'word again this time. In conversation with me.. I gave my opinions and that I do reviews on google he did ask for a mention, and he was glad I gave him the feedback, and he will look into it and speak to the owners.. I do hope to pass by maybe in a months time and give them a 2nd try, and hopefully, slight changes will...
Read moreVisited as part of a greater group, we had no influence the choice of Jhoom but knew of the poor reputation made apparent from the REAL 1 star reviews and others who have previously visited as opose to the regular FAKE 5 star reviews (Instead of Antonio, try another member of staff) left daily by the management or team made by newly created google accounts. Absolute con artists who should be ashamed of themselves, overpriced poor standard food and non existent service, no sane person would enter this place a second time. splashed the cash on the decor, had insufficient funds to pay a decent chef. Maybe concentrate on rectifying the criticism from the REAL reviews instead of countering with fake reviews.
As a person going for service and the taste of food rather then the decor, my opinions were quickly confirmed within minutes entering from the service and then receiving the food.
We ordered the minimum based on the above, A curry, some naan, chips and a drink (2 members from 10). As a total group of over 10 people following the order, some of the food came out swiftly luke warm and not to the some of requirements requested. I do not beleive all the food was made to order, the curries bland with no spice or chilli, naan not made inhouse likely heated from a packet, mixed grills again tasteless. The masala chips were a sprinkling of a peri peri salt alternative as apposed to what's commonly known as masala chips.
The customer service was non existent, being asked for our order regularly, even though we specified we needed over 10 minutes to decide then making many mistakes by missing items and incorrect spice levels etc. The table setting was overcrowded and located in what can be only be described as the entrance corridor. Our visit was rushed by the staff to clear the table prior to even finishing our food, not one member of staff had sufficient experience to give the service expected. When it came to pay a card machine was presented with 1 bill even though we specified we needed to pay in 4 unequal parts and suggested we paid per head instead, after dealing with three waited for payment we were advised to go to the till to tot up the order there which is what we requested throughout.
If you are after wasting money to take photos and videos for social media, this hype is for you.
I do not recommend anyone to visit this place.
I do not require a generic reply as obviously nothing has changed from the time others have left the 1...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Jhoom in Coventry, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism, setting the tone for a delightful evening.
Firstly, I would like to extend my gratitude to Aftab, who was incredibly accommodating to our request for a specific seating arrangement. His attentiveness and willingness to ensure we were comfortable was much appreciated and set a positive start to our dining experience.
Our evening was further enhanced by Muzz, the amazing host, who took the time to walk us through the menu with great detail and enthusiasm. His recommendations were insightful and helped us make choices that perfectly suited our preferences. It’s rare to find someone so knowledgeable and passionate about the dishes they serve, and Muzz's guidance was invaluable.
The rest of the waiting staff also deserve commendation. Every waiter we encountered was excellent and welcoming, contributing to the positive and friendly atmosphere that Jhoom is evidently proud of. Their prompt service and genuine smiles made us feel at home.
The atmosphere of Jhoom is another highlight. The decor is stylish and inviting, creating a perfect setting for a relaxed yet refined dining experience. There is a palpable positive vibe in the air, making it a great place for both casual dinners and special occasions.
Now, onto the food – which was nothing short of exceptional. I ordered the Tiger Prawn and Lamb Soka, and both dishes exceeded my expectations. The Tiger Prawns were cooked to perfection, with a delightful balance of spices that enhanced their natural flavor without overpowering it. The Lamb Soka was equally impressive, tender and flavorful, exactly as I wanted it. Every bite was a testament to the culinary expertise of the kitchen staff.
In conclusion, my experience at Jhoom in Coventry was outstanding. The accommodating service from Aftab, the knowledgeable and helpful hosting by Muzz, and the excellent service from the entire waiting staff all contributed to a memorable evening. The positive atmosphere and exceptional food make Jhoom a standout choice for anyone looking to enjoy a high-quality dining experience. I highly recommend giving it a try – you won’t be...
