New Spires — Restaurant in Coventry

Since new owners have taken over, this pub has seen a huge improvement. The place has a great atmosphere, very friendly staff and most importantly, a great selection of beers. The standard of the food has improved significantly. I would highly recommend coming along on a Sunday for a roast dinner, cannot fault it at all. Also, there is plenty here for children to do. As well as a small outdoor play area, they even have a bouncy castle. For the adults, the pub has TVs everywhere, even outside so ideal for watching any sporting events. Visited with family early evening on a Saturday expecting a family friendly atmosphere. What a shock to find the place full of drunken larey patrons. The bar staff were attentive; one looked like she'd had enough of the noise, however another bar member seemed to be encouraging the behaviour. Real shame as the food was tasty and cooked well. Menu was fairly limited, unfortunately no cottage pie, but standard pub grub otherwise which we all enjoyed. Racist pub, got refused to be served as apparently looked under 25 without ID despite having a full beard. Was with another much older person and even got refused to be served soft drink. Manager cited "licencing restrictions for not serving under 18s before 7:30" despite other friend not being refused. Manager also laughed and smugly smiled after we left.
