Sizzling Pub & Grill — Restaurant in Coventry

Went for dinner with my family - before I start, let me say this was not a busy day at all - maybe four or five tables had a few people on. It didn't take long to get our meals, I had the tandori chicken sizzler which was good except from all of the vegetables being burnt stuck to the pan and becoming cold soon after supposedly still cooking on the pan. My dad had a beautifully made burger however the mac and cheese with it had clearly been microwaved. My mum had the surf n turf, it was awful. Despite being a "sizzler" the onions were cold as soon as it came out, the steak was not cooked the way she asked and the scampi batter was soggy. It was sent back straight away by us bringing it up to the bar (since no server checks on the meals until you complain). It took until everyone else had eaten their dinner and an extra ten to twenty minutes for her to finally have her meal redone to a somewhat higher standard (same chips used so they're cold - steak still not cooked to how it should be). Staff is not friendly at all, meal prices are higher than they should be especially due to the standards. Will not be...

We had a meal booked for 15 people this evening.. it had been prearranged for quite some time ... orders for food had been taken and our friends had called in to the pub and discussed and arranged it all with Karen, one of the managers, even choosing which table we would sit at. As we all arrived, the staff on duty this evening knew nothing of the booking and though the particular table had a "reserved" sign on it, there were people sitting at the table who were not prepared to move. The shift manager on duty this evening, did his absolute best for us, as did the chef.. they moved tables around and fitted us in without fuss.. not easy to do that for 15 people who were not expected! The food was very nice and we really appreciated such great service from all the staff but particularly those in charge this evening .. Bar manager and chef ... I'm only sorry I didnt take your names .. as local people , we will be talking about tonight to lots of other local people and we will be highly recommending the Nuggett! Thank you...

The only reason this is not a 1 star is because the staff are really friendly, however they’re not the most competent. We were seated at a table which was filthy and clearly hadn’t been cleaned since the last customer had left it which is not very COVID safe so we moved tables. Then the food which took quite a long time to arrive had bits missing and the steak on the surf and turf was over cooked and wasn’t served on a skillet as it should be.
