The steak I ordered was a medium well 8oz sirloin, it arrived and looked horrific like it had been butchered by a rabid dog! It was 35% fat, so I sent it back and asked for another at which point a lady that had been working the bar came and said it was supposed to look like that, I said that I have eaten many steaks and that the steak I was presented was way too fatty she then informed us that she ‘has a food certificate ‘ and supposedly knew what she was talking about then she also completely refused to replace the steak, she explained to us that the rump is less fatty and that I should order that so I said ok but she then informed us that I would have to pay again, I refused and told her to bring back the first steak, then I complained to the people I was with that I wouldn’t feed it to a dog and how i would be leaving a bad review at which point she came back and with a huff she said rudely DO you want me to replace it, I replied that I would like it replaced but not if I would have too pay more. So she said fine it would be 25mins. When I finally got my second steak it was very well done (over done) as opposed to the mid-well I asked for but I could just about eat it, it was incredibly tough but tasted about the same as an average steak would. I informed another member of staff how bad the service from the First Lady was when she questioned weather the food was any better also I love mushrooms but the mushrooms served with the steak were the most vile I have ever eaten (I don’t know how you can mess up mushrooms, they were kind of bitter. I think we were given off mushrooms as they didn’t like our reaction to the food) The starters were delicious (battered mushrooms, halloumi fries and the cauliflower bites) but we were very let down by the service and quality of the steak. Avoid eating here, unless you just get starters and drinks overall I would rate the Wallace 2/10. —after reading the response from Zoe, I was not annoyed because the steak had fat on it, I am well aware that a sirloin cut has fat around it but the steak had a large excess of fat that is not standard, it was also very badly cut, I suggest you find a new supplier for your meat as you sold a disgraceful cut of meat and then tried to act as if I know nothing, as I previously mentioned the steak was at least 1/3rd fat and looked vile. I nearly always get a sirloin steak when I eat out and never have I been served such a low quality cut. I also have a fair knowledge of meat and cuts but there was way too much fat on this steak and you were completely unprofessional and absolutely vile and that fact you are still trying to justify it proves just how much of a fool you are!

I took my family here on a Thursday night for a meal to end the holiday. We rang prior as my wife has dietary requirements and we wanted to know what choices she would have. The answer was that the chef there (Josh) would cook her food from scratch so we booked to ensure we could get a place. It was the start of service about 5 so not very busy. We were welcomed by Charlie and Victoria who did everything possible to ensure that we had all information. Also helped us to entertain our 5 and 3 year old whilst we decided. Sorted quickly and served very quickly considering the food for my wife being cooked from scratch so very impressed with that. The team did a terrific job. We were very happy and we cannot wait to come again. I used to go to the elms however this is a much better place we feel as you aren't filling yourself up on old wilting free salad. We came away satisfied. See you again soon guys. Well done!!

Typically we go there for breakfast and lunch. Always getting good service and food. Today, it was a total disaster. Our order took 45 min to make. Jacket potato, fish and chips and vegetables lasagne. No apologies or nothing for the food being late. Few customers cancelled their orders and left due to how long it was taking to make their food. The vegetables lasagne came with HAIR in it. No reaction or acknowledgement. Just asked if we wanted refund or new order. The deal was 2 meal for £10.50, but was only given £3.10 refund for the lasagne. What a shame, local pub turning into shambles. No customer service or care like before. PEOPLE BE AWARE OF THE FOOD. These 'accidents' are happening a lot these days.

Staff not helpful always on their phones I was at the bar and one staff member didn’t even realized I had been waiting after me trying to Get attention. Food wasn’t very good missed part of my partners order then waited over 20 minutes for them to sort it out. We tried to some order ice cream for desert but waited too long so had to get a refund. The place wasn’t overall busy at this point so don’t understand why they took so long. Tables unclean and sticky. Didn’t Have a pleasant experience at all. I feel like the customer service really need to improve as I did not feel welcome at all by any staff member as I have already mentioned they were more interested in their phones or talking to each rather than priding themselves on what should be great customer service. Also customers should be made to feel welcome and there wasn’t any focus on customer interaction, there was another couple I met in the pub who said they felt it was not appropriate so either. I used to go here quite a lot as it’s a local pub but due to this I feel I will avoid for awhile now, which is a real shame in my opinion as it is a lovely pub but the staff seem to be...
