It was nice seeing the restaurant reopen after a brief period, and I'm going to base this review on my most recent experience. This is my 4th visit and I really do enjoy the low lit and laid back atmosphere that this restaurant brings. The staff are very friendly, I did visit on a Saturday service was a bit slower due to the usual busyness which was understandable. Now for the drinks, there is a strong offering of different alcoholic and non alcoholic options, I decided to go with a diet coke, my husband ordered the peach ice tea which was lovely. The menu has had an update which is great to see, I decided to opt for a solo burger and two loaded side dishes, and I must say I was slightly underwhelmed. The loaded chips were fries* (it is a bugbear of mine, when someone declares chips but instead arrives skinnier than what I expect) but the cheese sauce and chilli was a good combination. The Mac and cheese balls were lacking on the seasoning end but the chilli sauce they were served with did help enhance the flavour, textually these were spot on. For the main meal, I ordered the bbq pulled pork chicken burger, which had a nice flavour overall, but the chicken fillet was a bit overcooked and the pulled pork could have had more punch to it, as it tasted quite plain, but the texture of the pulled pork was melty which is what I expect. Finally, dessert, I ordered the sticky toffee pudding which was very delicious but I did have to wait a bit for this to be served (it was worth the wait). To summarise, it wasn't the best experience on the food front, but I will say I have ordered from the smokehouse section before, and historically I've been more impressed with the offerings here and I do think it's the best vfm, and the team do get creative with their flavour combinations here. Great service from the team, and yes I would visit again as I do believe it's one of the better eateries...
Read moreVery disappointed in the surf and turf box. Definitely not worth £40. Half a tray of chips, 5 prawns with loads of cut up lemon and chilli, sausage that was grisley, and one slice of beef. The beef was cooked lovely but shame it was all in the same tray with all the same taste (very spicy and greasy) not sure what was "beef dripping" about the batch? It was an uncut soggy doughy bun. Corn was in a tiny melted plastic dip pot. The slaw and some pickle dip was nice though. Not a good sharing box with odd numbers.
We also ordered the beef nachos, again disappointing! The chill con carne tasted like it came out a tin and very watery. The nachos were cooked well and a good size. We also didn't get the white garlic dip that comes with that. All in all not worth the money, and doubt I'll order from Street again.

Street face us the opportunity to re order and have a second chance them. I dined with family, there were 6 of us. We had a mix of burgers, sides, dessert, and my brother in law ordered the surf and turf box we ordered last time...... It was great!! The langastines were in its own packaging, the presentation was as good as the taste. I especially loved the chips loaded with cheese, gravy and caramelised onions My niece did mention the veggie burger was spicy but she cleansed her pallet with the mud pie which she really enjoyed
Second time was a great experience
Thank you again, and I'll be...
Read moreAfter going to Street during the "Eat out to help out" scheme (which we really enjoyed), we decided to go back and try it again with others to show them what it is like.
Unfortunately, this visit was a disappointment overall. The menu has changed from a pan-asian style to a "smokehouse" style meaning people who have been before might miss some of the previous items avaliable - the fries have changed, no noodles, no chicken bites etc.
Drinks wise, these were quite expensive for what you get. For example, the mocktails are £5 each, in a tiny champagne flute (see picture) and warm and tasteless. The lemonade (also £5) however was actually good and in a bigger jar like glass - If only the rest of the drinks came in that size!
In terms of the food, again, this feels too expensive for what you get. The burgers are somewhat small and honestly, bland. The meat of the patties is nothing special. You will have to buy a number of sides to really pad out the meal if you are hungry. We can only mention the "Southern Fried Potatoes" which became quite tough to bite once they had cooled down a bit.
The staff seemed unattentive generally. They did not come back to the table to ask how the food was and we were sitting there waiting a long time before we could ask for the bill.
Overall, quite underwhelming and for ~£70 for 5 of us, we do not think we will be coming back...
