So after a tiring day around Coventry we decided to have some dinner at Tamil’s Taste of Asia, we walk in with our toddler and ordered a beer for myself and a can of coke for my Missus, chicken lollipop for starters, followed with naan and mutton curry and finally chicken biryani. After a long wait of 30ish minutes a young lad with glasses walks up with empty plates sets it up and disappears again. 40th minute only chicken biryani arrives and after another 8 minutes comes the mutton curry and still haven’t been served the beverage yet asked the young lad with glasses second time for my drinks he again says ok and disappears. At this moment I’m already loosing it and I decided to cancel the beverage but the girl at the desk said she will get it in 5minutes and not to cancel the order. But I was already pissed off so I asked for empty container to pack all the food and go home. We only had biryani this whole time. 3 items to pack up but this same young lad comes with only 1 container, I said I need 2 more…comes again with 1 and I said 1 more. At this moment there was nothing such as common sense in the room as after packing our food in a plastic bag he hands over the bag to me and guess what? Mr skinny with glasses (same young lad) puts the naan first and on top the container of curry and chicken lollipop upside down. Man how can you just do that? We needed peace so we decided to take the meal home and luckily I saw it than and there and sorted the bag out….now my question is why does it take 40mins just to get a beer? Service is slow as I was expecting it after reading all reviews and last question is why there is no proper manager to manage this place? That young lad knows nothing about hospitality and is a nuisance and messes up your orders and everything. This young people cannot manage the place well and it needs a proper experienced people and a manager to run this business. If there is any word worse than pathetic than apply that for service and management. Lastly the only person I would like to praise is the Chef, the man and the magician. What an amazing food it was. I enjoyed the food better at home and the flavours were just oozing in my mouth. I’m definitely gonna try the food again but NOT DINING IN. I’ll prefer to take it home. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the chef and his food. 👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿 for the young lad with glasses and the...
Read moreVery slow service. I suppose that's to do with the timing and the crowd. Came on Sunday evening 3.30 pm to have Biriyani and Dosa and it took ages to be delivered.
The food is very nice. No complaints there. Mutton Masala Dosa was good and I felt it was better that the Chicken one we ordered. What they do is prepare the Masala Dosa and insert the Chicken or Mutton pieces. Chicken pieces are large and doesn't gell well with the Masala whereas Mutton seems to do so because of smaller pieces.
Chicken 65 Biriyani was good too. No complaints there and with enough quantity.
Kids Noodles was good also had decent quantity. A suppose it's good enough for a big and small kid.
Filter coffee is the highlight. Reminds you of a proper filter coffee.
Lemon tea is with salt and that's a bummer. If you are not used to that taste, you will be disappointed.
Overall, quality food with service being slow depending on the time you come in.
If you are planning to order as a group sharing policy, ensure that you order the same dish. Else, one dish gets delivered and the others won't, leaving some of you...
Read moreHighly under-rated south indian restaurant of Coventry! We actually never ‘dared’ to visit this restaurant in last 3 years, solely because, from the outside, the restaurant seemed very shady and unattractive. However, a friend suggested we try their food. Therefore, with a little hesitation, we decided to visit today at 2 PM for lunch and were amazed with the quality and taste of food. We had ordered Dosas, Biryani and filter coffee. All were excellent! Reason why I did not give 5 stars: The owner needs to invest and redesign the entire restaurant - both from outside and inside. If they can get anywhere close to how chaiwala looks from outside (don't compare with chailwala food, which is really horrible!), the footfall will increase multiple fold! The interiors including chairs, ambience and other 70’s jars need to go away and make space for some modern ‘inviting’ decor and ambience. The water glasses did not seem hygienic (some spots and stains), but we didn't bother since the food was amazing. Do try their biryani and dosa - its...
