Charlie Fry's Sports Bar — Restaurant in Crawley

My husband and I walked up to the bar and grabbed some menus, asked if we just pick where we sit. After sitting for a bit realized we probably had to order at the bar, so we did so. I got a beer, and then we tried to order our food- the first thing we ordered was a seafood fish basket appetizer, the guy taking yhe order seemed confused. My husband repeated the name, and pointed at where it was on the menu. The guy asked if he wanted the burger, we said no and repeated the name and showed him the menu. He took the menu, looked at it for a minute and his computer screen, read it back correctly and we said yes, took the menu back and repeated the name and that's what we wanted. He then warned us it had calamari, we said yes that's what we wanted. Then order our mains (at this point he did go to kitchen staff for clarification and let me know my main was a sandiwhich, not just chicken, so I switched to a burger). Wesl sat down, very confused by the interaction. A different person brought out our food, and instead of the seafood basket we were given the sandwhich with calamari on it (from the #2 section of the menu with mains, not the fish basket from the #1 section). We explained it wasnt what we ordered and this guy was nice and set he'd get it settled...so then the guy who took our order came over, first words out of his mouth were 'I told you it had calamari'. My husband calmly pointed at the menu again and said what he had ordered, and I said they had two menu items with calamari in them and we got the wrong thing. He brought us the fish basket a couple minutes later, again seemed to have attitude when asking if its what we wanted. ok, whatever, very uncomfortable but we just wanted to eat and get out of there. We'll, when we finally finished and left my husband let me know the guy had been pointing at us and taking about us to another person, even overheard him refer to me as 'the big lady over there' obviously complaining about us. I couldn't see it at the time as my back was to the bar. Seriously, worst service ever received. I hate leaving bad reviewes, but we will likely never be back in that area again to ever give another chance. Only reason the rating is 2 stars and not 1 is because the food was fine, it was tasty, and the gentleman who brought out our food initially was nice. My husband and I have both worked the service industry and know 9/10 times the customer is the rude one in these reviews and interactions, but this was not the case here. Seriously...

This is the most disgusting meal I have ever been served in a restaurant. We got chicken wings, they tasted like they had freezer burn before they were cooked. Just horrible. We had fish sandwiches, frozen fish parts, tasted really fishy, they smelled horrible. The tarter sauce was also inedible. This is in a Hilton. The Hilton used to be a really nice hotel. I will never stay...

20 pounds burger for dinner and I feel awfull the day after. The hamburger patty received was not warm, by the look of it was most probably pre cooked and warmed up. Totally not worth the price paid for it. Today I suffer from food indigestion so thank you for that Charlie...
