The Old Punch Bowl is a charming and cozy pub that offers a delightful blend of history, ambiance, and excellent service. Located in a quaint setting, it has managed to maintain a warm, traditional feel while offering modern amenities and an inviting atmosphere. The pub’s interior is rich with character, featuring exposed wooden beams, a crackling fireplace, and comfortable seating that makes it perfect for both casual drinks or a sit-down meal. The outdoor seating area is a great spot to enjoy sunny days, adding to its appeal. The menu is diverse, offering classic pub fare with a modern twist. Whether you’re fish and chips, or a well-crafted burger, the food is consistently well-prepared and flavorful. Their selection of beers, is extensive, catering to both local tastes and international selections. The music is lively and played at a perfect volume—loud enough to enhance the atmosphere but soft enough to still enjoy conversation. It adds to the vibrant energy of the pub without being overwhelming. What truly stands out, however, is the friendly and attentive staff. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with warm smiles and efficient service, making every visit a pleasant experience. Overall, The Old Punch Bowl is the perfect spot to unwind, enjoy great food, drinks, and upbeat music in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone in the area looking for a traditional yet vibrant pub experience!

A lovely Greene King pub with lots of period features (some old and some new!) with two separate outside seating areas (covered and heated but in summer one also with outside bar) and lots of nooks and crannies making it feel both larger and smaller at the same time (if that's possible)! A couple of game machines, sometimes DJs and other nights (e.g. quiz night) make this either a destination in itself or (due to its location) a great stop for a quick pint alone or with friends. It can get very busy, but the large bar area copes well. On a recent visit, after an uncharacteristic bout of indecisiveness (there was so many things on the menu that I fancied, even though it wasn't the largest menu ever) I settled on the 8oz steak skewer which was cooked to perfection; compliments to the Kitchen. Staff are friendly and attentive, and both locals and visitors alike are made feel very welcome indeed. Dogs are also welcome but due to local licensing (not the pub's decision) under 18s are not allowed on the premises. All in all, unless you have a thing against Greene King (or chain pubs in general) you should go: for the staff, for the range of drinks, for the food and for the atmosphere! (I don't usually single out particular members of staff in my reviews, but Leon deserves a special mention: he's brilliant. In frið, my man!)

My club had chose to meet for Xmas drinks, I checked on the website and they did a Kids Menu, so presumed children were allowed in the venue, as we intended to order our dinner. However when we arrived we were told no children allowed and told we couldn't stay, This upset my wife and 2 children (aged 14 and 7.) Outside is a big sign informing you that "We believe in diversity in our pubs" also dogs are allowed but not my two well mannered, respectful children. So we had to leave and return home. Will never step foot in any woke Greenking establishments ever again. The owners reply, This reply about can't accommodate under 18's has just been added, it was not there yesterday on the site. Also why have a kids menu if they aren't allowed in? But dogs are! As a matter of clarification My children don't lick their own butt or go to the toilet on the floor. But Dogs are allowed in. This has nothing to do with me going to the local council, would children have to eat outside then? You can stick your patronising reply Right up there. Many thanks 😊

We were offered to taker part in the quiz with my brother of afro Caribbean decent and a work colleague. All details were given and we were booked a table with our name on with details how to participate. One of our party choose to eat and had good . Just before the quiz began We were told we was not welcome as we were wearing work clothes and trainers. (many others wear wearing trainers and are work clothes were buttoned t shirts. One of our party(write gentleman) had with his work clothes the previous evening with no incident. We were accepted into the quiz until management informed us we was not welcome without any noticeable reason differentiating us from other customers. When challenged we was met with generic answers and smirks and told it couldn't be a black thing as 'we have one over there'. Discussed and tempers frayed but no shouting'swearing or abuse and police were threatened to be called by to the management. Highly recommend that this pub say the start was welcoming and a pleasant atmosphere had left a site taste in my mouth and send regressed to the 1970s where they can pick and choose their discrimination. They mentioned can't have trainers but allowed others in with trainers and discarded us without even checking our footwear which could in no where be discribed as'grubby' or of a lower standard than those around us. Growing up in a multicultural city and being English from birth I was upset that this sort of behaviour is still apart of society. The clientele and bar staff were highly rated but the management leave a bitter taste which will be reported higher even though the email they gave me to complain isn't a valid email address....

Went for dinner last night, (19th June). Was greeted by Charlie who suggested I might use the app to order food, as I hadn't picked my table yet.

I got seated straight away just opposite the bar, no waiting for a table, though that dining area was very warm with little or no cooling - yes it was the hottest day of the year so far, but a fan would have helped with the cooling. I ordered the Steak and Ale pie, with chips and the most amazing gravy, I've ever tasted, along with an orange and lemonade drink. The drink arrived after about 10 mins, with Charlie apologising for the delay, pointing out that he was working alone behind the bar.

The food arrived after a further 5 to 10 mins, once again delivered by Charlie, who again apologised for the delay, pointing out that Chef had just completed a large dinner order. To be honest, I hadn't noticed the wait, as using the free WiFi had kept me occupied.

The food was really good. The chips and peas were lovely and the pie was full of steak and was piping hot throughout the whole time. The gravy was, as I said earlier, amazing. Really complimented the dinner, only criticism would be, I wish there had been more of the gravy.

I've been staying in Crawley for a week, and left coming to the Old Punch Bowl, until my last evening. Only wish I'd have come here sooner.

Top marks to Chef and to Charlie for his politeness, in keeping me informed and his general professionalism. Great Customer Service.

Would definitely visit again, the next time...
