If you are a visitor to Ashbourne and have never tried the Bakehouse, I would urge you to go and try some of Lisa's excellent breads and pastries. There are always plenty of samples of bread to try with good olive oil and balsamic vinegars available for dipping. My favourites are the bagel, cream cheese and smoked salmon sandwich accompanied by a cup of some of the Bakehouse's excellent coffee; an almond croissant to follow with another cup of coffee; cheese straws and a summer fruits Danish to take home with a loaf of one of one the excellent sourdough breads. The Bakehouse sell delicious products, I personally love their sourdough baguettes, but breads and sweet produce of a very wide variety are also very yummy :) The place looks lovely, one can even stop and have a danish on the spot with a good (and free!) cup of coffee, though it's is not the most spacious. Excellent bakes. You are not allowed into the bakery currently, however the staff do a brilliant job of telling what's available and describing the options. We had a cranberry and pistachio slice, a cinnamon roll and a focaccia bread. We were really happy with all three and will hopefully be making another visit this week.
