We attended for the Easter bunny event two adults and two children. It started at 9.30am and we arrived about 9.32. Upon entering we were told to make our way to a table and a lady with red hair explained what was going to happen. She spoke so fast I'll be honest the only thing I heard was order coffee at the bar and when asking what food was available for adults I only heard beans on toast. We didn't even get sat down and the Easter bunny had been brought out. We were sat at a table that looked like it had been put in the middle of a space that should have been kept empty for the dancing activities for the kids and it was right next to the toilet so with all the parents and kids and staff trying to dance we were trying to eat breakfast with literally no space. It was like trying to sit and eat in the middle of a dance floor. The breakfast came out and it was freezing cold. We must have been asked about 20 times if the kids had finished with their meals so they could take the plates which they weren't. It was absolute chaos there was no organisation at all with it. The main door was left open which was right next to where the kids were which is a safety issue with kids running around they could have ran straight out of the door onto the road which is directly outside the door. Apparently the floor was being mopped at the other end or something so that door had to be kept open. Why was that not done prior to the event starting to ensure safety for the kids? Upon leaving we were not asked if it was all ok but I tried to just explain about the table not being in the best place our feedback for our opinion. For I can only assume the manager (a large man dressed all in black) to shout over from the bar but did I hear you say the kids enjoyed it? To which we replied yes they did and he shrugged his shoulders and said that's it then that's all that matters. Yes they did enjoy but they are 2 and 4 they don't know any different. And unfortunately it is usually adults who pay for it and honestly £60 what was paid for the 'experience' food and drinks was very poor and we would not return. I would pay any amount if it is a good experience and unfortunately for us it wasnt on...
Read moreBeen this morning for Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. There were 5 adults and 5 children, pre ordered 3 kids breakfast before hand. When we arrived we were seated across two booths. Lady explained kids breakfast will come out when they're ready and we were to order at the bar. I asked for a menu but she said it's cooked breakfast, bacon sandwich, sausage sandwich or beans on toast...not an issue. Waited for the rest of our party to arrive then went to the bar, I ordered 4 cooked breakfasts, 2 lemonades, 2 teas and 2 fruit shoots and that came to just over £40 so don't know where the previous complaint got £60 from...anyway...party started, an outside agency danced and sang with the kids and Easter Bunny came out to visit briefly, Easter Bunny left then they did some more dancing before food started coming out. The entertainment girls left the kids to eat their food and brought Easter Bunny back out to do some more games and dancing and photos. Food was lovely and hot. Kids portions were decent size and they brought out a plate of toast and butter for everyone. As the dancing finished the girls spotted my step daughters birthday badge so got her up so we could all sing Happy Birthday to her she's 15 so thoroughly embarrassed her but was a nice touch. At the end the lady that first seated us brought eggs round for the kids we'd only paid for 3 kids breakfasts as my eldest are 15 and 16 but she gave them eggs as well as didn't want to leave them out which was also a lovely touch! As someone has already said the door was open however it was a good distance away. In my opinion we paid for a family event not a crèche so maybe just keep an eye on your kids...Amazing morning everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed it ages ranging right from 2 year old. Will be back next year if it's on...
Read moreAll of the meat selections were overcooked and crispy on the edges. Initially I requested beef but as the meat was being carved I could see it was very dry and changed my mind and selected the Turkey, but to be honest it was not much better. When my son went to the counter the beef joint was changed however this was still very dry. The Yorkshire puddings were difficult to cut as they were like 'leather'. The vegetables were not too bad apart from the roast potatoes which were rubbery on the outside. The staff were pleasant on approach but there was no guidance to how the service went. We had prebooked the table for the festive meal but not pre ordered the food. We were asked if we were ready for our starters as half of our party entered the room and had not even sat down, then nothing. we thought that staff would come over to see us once settled but nothing. After awhile I went to the bar for instruction and was advised that the order should be placed there. After the main course we were politely asked if we had ordered desert, we replied that we had not yet ordered, thinking that someone would come back we patiently waited until we agreed that they were not coming back. Again I went to the bar to order desert. There was quite a delay in deserts arriving and when staff were approached they said that there was a delay due to everyone coming in at once, however lots of the people had already left, and it would be another five minutes. The reason for choosing House Martin for our family Christmas meal was because we had a very good service there last year. Extremally disappointing This year. Wont be...
