So me and my partner have taken our 10 month old son a couple of times now. 1st time was great. 2nd time was very poor. Facilities are good though part of the connecting strap is missing on baby changing table to secure baby in (needs fixing) 0-2 area is good but not great, bright colours and plenty for our son to play with HOWEVER the majority of the soft play things like the crab, sunshine, ball pit etc are suffering with heavy wear and tear to the point where it's fraying on edges quite badly and probably should be replaced. There's one part of the flooring next to the black whale mini slide which has been repaired very poorly. It's easy to expose the material underneath. That's a health and safety risk that needs sorting. My biggest issue I have is that the rules of play just aren't enforced enough. I get this is a 2 way street between parents who should actually be supervising their kids but it's also for staff to enforce the rules and move kids on from areas where they are definitely too old to be in. Whilst age for each area is a recommendation, common sense should be applied. 1st time we went (28/11/21) at least 1 member of staff was enforcing the rules of play which was great, they did this multiple times moving kids (who were 2-3 times the recommended age for the 0-2 area) on to their age appropriate area. This albeit was on a quieter evening session. 2nd time we went on a busier lunch time session the rules may as well have not been enforced. Staff preparing for a party could clearly see that kids as old as 12 years old I'm guessing were absolutely wrecking the 0-2 area but did nothing. Kids who were too old for the 0-2 area were tipping everything over, throwing soft play furnishings about and using the noodle things (best way I can describe them) as makeshift swings. This put off multiple families including ours from going into the area with our own child as it's just an accident waiting to happen Whilst part of the responsibility lies with the parents for supervising their own kids I'm sure it'd end up being Astrabounds fault for kids hurting themselves playing in areas they shouldn't. We left the session early with over an hour to spare because of this. I let the receptionist know about this and they were horrified with what they saw. I will accept that in future I'll let staff know during the session as opposed to when we leave when kids aren't adhering to the rules. Astrabound itself is probably more for kids aged 4+ as opposed 4 and under but do accommodate somewhat okay for babies/toddlers. I doubt my family will come back for a while because of the reasons...
Read moreI have a real love, hate for this place. The love is it is just great for the boys to go and burn energy, have fun and play. The play areas are really good. It’s been some time since my last visit and they have changed the sessions. Apparently between the sessions they close for half an hour to clean. Now out of the large setting area I manage to sit at the that had dried juice on it. I thought never mind. So I picked up the 2 menu’s and they were stuck together, at this point I’m definitely thinking the half hour is a staff cig break. Anyway I decided to go and get some drinks and one of the choices was a slush that was not anywhere near the top of the cup. I was really tempted to have an ice cream sundae with flake and chocolate sauce. I asked the lady serving if the picture on the menu was the sundae and she said it was. But then proceeded to tell me that the cream cost extra, no mention of this on the menu and for £4.25 come on, I mean you know it’s going to be a small glass. So I left it I mean getting in and drinks had already totalled £40. All I’m saying is it’s just the little things come sundaes always have cream on, god I wish the harbour bar in Scarborough was in Doncaster, I like a treat every...
