Set on the corner of a junction, this is a nicely set cafe with a welcoming, friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
Several tables to eat inside.
Friendly lady serving behind the counter with male cooking in the back, she did struggle with my order, which was a Traditional breakfast and a Big breakfast with 6 items added on at extra cost. (3x HB,1X Sausage,2x Toast)
waited about 20 minutes, and the order arrived without the added items. This is a small mistake but had to wait a further 5 minutes for said items to come and the food already brought out wasn't offered to be taken back to keep warm so by the time the full meal was on the plate the rest had started going cold. It's not ideal.
While I appreciate this is just a small mistake, it is frustrating when you want to eat everything hot, without waiting for the rest of your food.
The food: SAUSAGES 🌭 These were really the poorest quality sausages I have had for a long time. The taste was an attack on my taste buds. Not nice at all. EGG🍳 Well cooked, not overly greasy, the yoke was soft. Just how I like my eggs cooked. Very nice. BACON🥓 Again, nice tasting bacon, medium cooked not soft and pale but a good colour and not too hard. Also Nice 👌 HASH BROWN'S Medium thick, crispy outside with soft inner, nice golden colour and satisfying. No complaints. BEANS AND TOMATOES There is no fault with the taste here, but the portion size was laughable. No joke, there was literally 1 tablespoon of tinned tomatoes and 2 tablespoons of baked beans on the plate. TEA 🍵 Served in a steel pot you can easily get 2 cups from this, tasted fine, no complaints.
With that said, then consider the price, £7.90 for the set breakfast, and the added it items a whopping £5.50, bringing the total breakfast price to £13.40.
Considering the quality of some of the items, the portion size, and the highly inflated price, I can't see any value or desire in returning anytime soon.
A shame because besides the slight language barrier in fully understanding the order and lack of customer service skills to make amends for the mistakes, they seem like lovely people, and I wish them all the best.
But improvements are needed, and you can not ignore the poor quality ingredients at this price point.
I understand that food prices are increasing, but the discrepancies between cheap breakfast items and this huge markup are just not justified.
Cheap beans and tomatoes are still 30p for a full tin, respectively. Come on now....😉
At £25+ for 2 breakfasts you you expect more value for money.
Businesses grow from profit, but they thrive on quality.
All things considered, i can not recommend...
Read moreA hidden gem of a cafe, right on the end of the main row of shops on Sandringham Road, the Sandringham Cafe has become a regular haunt for breakfasts!
The food is delicious and freshly cooked, the staff are friendly and helpful at all times, and the prices are very reasonable. I can highly recommend the “Early Starter” breakfast, which is filling enough on its own to carry you through to the afternoon, whilst not being overmuch that it would leave you wishing for a nap!
Plenty of choice is available both for food and drink, as well as hot and cold options for each. Several of the breakfasts come with tea or coffee, bread or toast, though if they don’t take your fancy you can always choose to go without.
There aren’t too many tables inside, so it’s nice and cosy, but a couple of tables are available outside in hot/dry weather should you prefer...
Read moreI used to go to this cafe once a week when working locally and it was always really good. I went last week though for the first time in a good few years and it has gone massively downhill.
The food was all low quality. The sausages were cheap and nasty, the hash browns too! I ordered a large breakfast and asked whether I could swap my mushrooms and tomatoes for 1 extra hash brown and was told no. If I wanted to do this I would have to pay extra for the hash brown. This meant I was left with a rather small breakfast for about £9.
I wouldn't have cared so much if the food was good quality but it really isn't. The cup of tea was the best part, and also the lady who works there was extremely polite. I won't be...
