The Grind — Restaurant in Doncaster

Had the most awful dining experience at The Grind on Saturday night. I would not recommend for large parties. We booked a table of 15 people. When we arrived, there wasn't enough seating and we had to request another table to be pulled up to accommodate all 15 of us.

We were sat for half a hour before drinks were ordered. Once ordered, they took about 20 minutes to arrive. Our orders for food weren't taken for an hour. Our food didn't arrive for ages, which I can forgive with it being such a large party on a Saturday evening. But when it did arrive, it arrived slowly in parts, we were all eating at separate times over the course of an hour.

Two of our party had food that arrived half a hour before the rest of us, and even then, not all of our items arrived. When asked about missing items, the waitress responded with an attitude, saying they had already arrived, so we had to order the dishes again, which we got charged TWICE for. We order multiple rounds of drinks, some of which did not arrive to our table at all. On top of this. We were charged for the drinks we didn't even get. One of our guests was waiting over an hour for a pint after asking multiple times.

The icing on the cake so to speak, we were celebrating a birthday, the waiter brought the cake out fully lit, brilliant. But forgot to bring a knife, plates and cutlery. 😂 This took another 20 minutes again.

The bill took ages to arrive, multiple members of our party got inpatient and paid for their meals on their way out. When the bill finally arrived, the guests each paid for their own food and drinks, and there was still a £100 charge leftover, from charging on food and drinks that never arrived!

We were given "complementary nachos" to make up for the disgusting service, which were just one bowl of cheesy doritos, some melted cheese, and some guacamole, salsa and sour cream just lobbed on the side.😂

The waitress on duty was particularly rude and even visibly snapped at the other waiter on duty, grabbing a large knife out of his hand. You could literally see her storm in and out of the kitchen, looking visibly frustrated. I mean, not her fault, as a restaurant, the management should have put more service and bar staff on for a large table on a Saturday night.

I can understand that food takes a while for such a large group, but you've had ages to prepare for this. For the sake of your staff's mental health, get more staff! The ones you had on were clearly visibly stressed. God knows what it's gonna be like at peak Christmas season. I would never come here again. Food is overpriced for what it is.

One of our party members asked if he could leave a small tip, to which the waiting staff said "don't bother, it doesnt go to us, it goes upstairs".

Pretty sure this place is a money laundering job as a friend of mine works next door and says it stinks...

Ordered from here for delivery during Covid 19 lockdown. Portions were small for how much they cost, all starters had been delivered in foil tubs so had sweat and gone soggy, coleslaw with burgers was warm, chips were cold and the nachos, delivered in a small pizza box, had the most foul guacamole we've ever tasted, barely constituted a handful of chips and there was more cheese on the cardboard in between each tortilla chip than on the nachos themselves. Both burgers were also missing pulled pork as advertised and the crispy bacon was undercooked.

Maybe it's better in the restaurant, but what we received has put us off from visiting. Only positive I can share is that it was delivered fairly quickly, but would have expected the food to be warmer...

First time trying and definitely will be going back. We had table booked for 12pm on a Friday cost £10 to reserve but the £10 was takem off the end bill. With us going so early there was a lighter/cheaper menu can't remember time it started from but ended at 3pm. For starter I ordered off main menu Garlic mushrooms and you get loads. Also complementary bread and dips was brought out to us was lush. From the until 3pm menu I had a main Mexican wrap came with salad and I added sweet potato fries was lovely and very filling!
