Mount Pleasant — Restaurant in Dudley

We had a table for 9 people as it was my parents 62nd wedding anniversary.

Considering that the pub owners have only been here for 15 weeks, it is run perfectly and is equal, if not better than some pubs we have recently visited. The staff were friendly and the table service was brilliant.

The place is spotlessly clean. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food was excellent. Two of our group had the cod loin which was excellent. Another had Lasagne and another had Scampi. The rest of us had the Carvery. Every meal was perfect. Topped off with nice desserts and a nice cappuccino to end the meal with.

The meals were all the same price. An amazing £6.50 each. I wasn't expecting much for £6.50 but I was so wrong. It was excellent.

Our 2nd visit tonight, meals were fabulous. Husband and I had fish and chips. Massive piece of fish covered in the lightest beer batter I think I've ever had, absolutely delicious and the tartar sauce was fabulous. My son had chicken tikka masala, looked lovely, nice rich sauce, plenty of chicken and son said it was tasty and very flavoursome. Sorry no photos, had started eating before I thought about it.

Talking to the gaffa it might be a Marstons pub but the kitchen is run by the pub not the brewery so menu choice is different to what you'll normally get from a Marstons pub and I found the food far superior, no microwave food here. Wouldn't hesitate to go again. May go Wednesday or Sunday next time and try the carvery.

Service quick, staff friendly enough. Disgusted with the vegetarian option, some vegetarians do not eat fish, yet this was the only option on the menu so ended up with a plate of veg which is not on in this day and age really. Potatoes cooked in butter which is no good if you have a dairy allergy. Basically, if you have food allergies, or vegetarian, then this is probably not the best place to go as allergy advice not readily available. Don't think we will be going back which is disappointing as we have been before and not normally...
