We had seen this place online a few times however only just opted to try it.
Whilst it was good overall. It certainly had the opportunity to be far better in some areas.
Firstly the place looks fantastic, very antique styled and has a really lovely vibe. A hidden gem by all means. Youād think it was an antique clothes store from the outside. We really liked this about the place.
The food was good definitely better than average place but it didnāt live up to the photos you see online and not every dish we had was great unfortunately. (Mainly the pesto dish)
The service was the real kicker however. We were initially greeted by a young server who was very polite and kind, just not very attentive at all and forgot about us initially, where we waited some time for drinks.
A lady then took over and the service picked up a little, but it was very point of sale styled and not very warm overall as a restaurant. It seemed as if they were pre occupied with other tasks too much. I donāt think we were asked if we wanted more drinks at any point.
Overall it was good, certainly no huge complaints, but certainly could have been a much better overall.
Thanks none the less. Hopefully just an off day with the service.
2/5
Edit: Having read the reply, Iām concerned that rather than acknowledging anything that was poor and putting it back onto the diners is a very poor attitude to have. We were polite at the time and yes maybe should have called the poor service and food out at the time, but reviews are exactly for this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately, this was the worst restaurant meal I have ever had.
I had the special, which was a chicken Shawarma, and it was dreadful. I would even go on to say it was quite simply not a restaurant quality meal. It consisted of a shop bought warm pitta, a dry and tasteless piece of flattened chicken, some bland salad with no dressing, and some chips. It would have been more in keeping with a primary school childās packed lunch than a restaurant quality meal, to the extent that I wonder how any professional chef could have thought it was worthy of serving.
It was comfortably the worst restaurant meal I have ever had, and I eat out a lot.
The only reason I contemplated a second course was because I was waiting for a theatre show and needed to kill some time. I ordered the cheese board because I foolishly thought they couldnāt mess that up. How wrong I was.
I got five small shop bought oatcakes, with no butterā¦.??! Four pieces of cheese which all tasted the same, and where there was meant to a caramelised onion chutney, for some inexplicable reason, I got a pile of what I can only guess was pickled gingerā¦?.. with a pile of very hot jalepenos. I have honestly never seen anything like that served in a restaurant.
The only saving grace were the very young staff who tried their hardest, but honestly I have never eaten or even seen a more bizarre and awful meal in my 48 years.
Just gobsmacked at the bizarre concoctions and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were looking for somewhere to eat before an early flight the next morning, and came across this restaurant by chance on Google Maps. I believe that it is a relatively new venture. We always look out for something local to an area, and a little out of the ordinary, and this seemed to fit the brief. We were not disappointed. Having no reservation, we arrived outside of normal kitchen service hours, but the staff were very accommodating. The friendliness of the staff was excellent, and that matched the very good quality food. Even a 'simple' thing like tartar sauce can often be overlooked, but made well, can elevate a whole dish - as is the case here. The quirky nature of the layout of the restaurant and the decor reflects the history of the place - and it's great to find a place like this. It almost has the atmosphere of a hidden-speakeasy. Definitely something that is more interesting than other places that we have tried in the area. We will be back - can't wait to try other things on the menu. "Great job" to the...
