If you want the flavour of authentic Indian Pakistani or Bangladeshi food then do not visit this restaurant. This restaurant is run by Bangladesh's and is the same as thousands all over the UK and even other parts of the world it serves concocted or fake south Asian cuisine that bears little if any resemblance to the authentic cuisine. Now if you like your chicken tikka masala and sickly coconut flavoured creamy korma then this will do just fine for you but authentic it is not. We had king prawn Tandoori starter with a hint of garlic, lamb chops starter, both quite ok. For mains we played it safe as two of them were not curries they were the mixed Tandoori platter of kebabs and we're quite edible but nothing particularly flavoursome. However the large portion of salad served with the kebabs was truly dreadful, limp lettuce looking like it has been out in the sun for about a day, we did not eat it. The only actual curry we had was king prawn makhani which did not resemble the true dish at all, it tasted of sugar and coconut and nothing else, however my wife ate it as she was starving it and it did have very large king prawns in it which were quite good. It was actually a bog standard fake korma and not a makhani at all. Naans were good, we did not have any rice or desserts. The place also has a bit of a problem with flies, it needs to get some machine in to catch and kill them. Finally I had a problem with the bill as this restaurant is a TasteCard member, but they only allowed me 2 for 1 on main courses, which is against tastecard regulations and I had to argue the point that they were wrong and I was correct, they reluctantly changed the bill. I reported them to tastecard, who after an investigation agreed I was correct to complain about the bill. To sum up, dirty flies, limp salads, non authentic food lacking in flavour, bill wrong, not a great experience, my advice is to avoid eating here. PS If you want a great king prawn makhani try M & S ready meals, currently 3 for £10,...
Read moreHave been eating at this restaurant for over 5 years and have always enjoyed the food, ambience and friendly service. My star rating is not a reflection on the always delicious food but on a new waiter who has been there the last 2 times we have dined. He has been rude, inattentive and obviously does not want to be there. On both occasions we have had to ask if we could get a drink. After placing our order the menus were snatched from our hands and when the food was delivered it was virtually thrown on the table. In a place where the owner/manger tries so hard to make everyone welcome this fellow is driving people away. I have not encountered such a dreadful waiter in hundreds of restaurants worldwide and am seriously considering not going back even though the food is lovely. This fellow is that bad he could cost this wonderful place a lot of business. Get...
Read moreWe’d never been here before but we found this place on Google Maps. It’s in the middle of the town but next to a large car park so that was easy. There’s a step up in the doorway. My 90 year old managed that, but it could be a challenge for a wheelchair, but if you can get in…it’s well worth it. We got a lovely friendly welcome and offered a very nice table. The menu had plenty of options and useful explanations for those I’d not tried before. There were vegetarian options as well. We ordered poppadoms, the special biryani and some drinks. The service was prompt but we weren’t rushed at all. The poppadoms and pickles were as good as we’ve ever had. I’ve never seen such beautifully presented biryanis before and tasted as good too. It’s a pity I didn’t think to take a picture. I just tucked in We paid only just over £20 each. Next time we’re in the...
