The Red Lion Inn — Restaurant in East Devon

Terrible place to go. Beer for taps doesn't taste fresh. Tastes like the lines haven't been cleared for a while. They have a money pop behind the bar that they use when they take for certain drinks instead of the till. They have already had a fine for this but are still carrying on. Landlord has no manners and treats the staff like absolute rubbish. Place looks like its not been cleaned in years especially the loos. One of the most disgusting places I've been. Landlord knows there are drugs being taken in the loos yet acts like she doesn't care when a friend of mine confronted her about it. All she had to say was my pub my rules. Gross dirty place with rude arrogant...

It's very cheap, for a reason. Every time I drink from the pumps, I have bad guts and a headache in the morning - not because I drank too much or had a bad kebab. I don't know if it's the near-off beer they buy or the lack of maintenance on the lines. The place is usually overrun by teens and there is often trouble. The smoking area out back is always littered. I haven't tried tried the food... Tara and Andy are friendly-enough but I think they have too much on...

Had a disappointing visit last year but must have just been an off day, we all have those! Certainly judging by the trusted opinions of colleagues and friends.

This visit one hundred per cent made up for the last. Excellent hardens to dine in, very relaxed with fantastic food to boot! A great choice of single malts for afterwards.
