This is a great alternative place to visit offering cheese boards with cold meals or loaded accompaniments for the vegetarian. Ideal if you want to share a bottle or two with friends and pick your way through the cheese boards over the course of several hours. The cheese boards are good with tasty cheeses. A single meat cheese board is probably not worth getting the meat if your partner is a vegetarian. Get the combo offers if you all like meat because there are more meats to be had. Otherwise vegetarian option is just as good with more pickles, olives, sundried tomatoes. The service was strange. They looked exhausted and little errors crept in and they struggled to explain clearly. They did their best and were friendly, but clearly needed a break. Also the cocktail deal means you have to buy two of the same and not any cocktail marked available for the deal. The decor and layout was good and they had live music and the two musicians were very good. As I say, a place to come for a long afternoon or evening with friends to chill, relax, drink wine and pick at your food, rather than your typical restaurant...
Read moreOur after cinema supper was a delightful surprise. The Graze Board was lovingly put together and truly a work of art. Salad leaves, vine tomatoes, pickles, olives, grapes and crackers with a strawberry garnish. This plus a choice of generous portions of local cheese, artisan bread and butter and a tastefully arranged selection of meats: chorizo, salami and Parma ham. An absolutely ideal accompaniment to a glass of white wine (or a 0% beer for the driver). The ambience in the listed former Post Office is stylishly comfortable. But beyond the quality of the venue and the food and drink, what topped our evening's experience was the warmth and friendliness of Griff and Simone, our hosts. They explained their vision for the recently reopened café-bar, including plans for live music in the coming weeks. We left keen to return and hoping that many others will discover this gem and share...
Read moreSadly for me and for the Sidmouth vibe G&O has closed with no re-opening date available. Sad loss. Hope it comes back. Had a great evening here with excellent food and wine. The decor is clever and brings the vast, high ceiling of the old Post Office down into the bar. Recently under new ownership the bar delivers really good food that compliments the excellent choice of wines. Live music will become a staple of the bar, especially jazz and it is very well worth a visit for either a great wine or an interesting meal. Griff and Simone, the new owners, are warm and hospitable and took time to chat and share their vision for G&O. All...
