Don't waste your time, money, or energy going here. The food was barely passable at best, and outright rancid at worst. Other reviews have mentioned the chips specifically being absolutely appaling, which I can attest to; out of the corner of my eye, I saw my order being put into a deep fat frier straight out of a freezer.
The waitress was perhaps the most miserable individual I have ever had the displeasure of meeting and the "chef" didn't appear to be much better. Rude behaviour, a lack of temper, and a generally repulsive atmosphere seem like they're the norm here and I am convinced that the poor residents of Seaton are forever plagued by the two zombies who reside here, who could do with either a career change, retirement, relationship councelling, or ideally all three.
This could explain a lot about Henry Stenner; perhaps he's related to the two ghouls who staff the place.
Completely ruined our short visit to this otherwise rather pleasant seaside town. Consider it an quarantined area; avoid if at...
Read moreAfter a long rainy journey from East Sussex .we stopped at Seaton . We went into Hughsies Cafe for breakfast . What a mistake . It said on menu if you have dietary needs ask. I asked if I could have scrambled egg and tomato please instead of on toast . The most unfriendly waitress said no . I could only have scrambled egg on toast ! I then ordered a cheese omelette and had to give the chips to my partner . My partner had a cooked breakfast which I have to say was made up of cheap sausages and bacon . But charged London rates I am diabetic and have to control my carb intake . I'm not rude or fussy , but was disappointed with the attitude of the waitress. £25 on rubbish . Lots of other lovely cafes and restaurants in area . We only went in because it was clean and we were soaked . Avoid...
Read moreI took my elderly parents here yesterday for lunch. The food was OK but the woman serving was unfriendly and unhelpful. There was no welcome or smile from her. I asked for a glass of tap water with my meal and was refused. When I asked why, I was told that 'it cost them'. When did a glass of water become so expensive that it cannot be given free?!? Didn't our bill of £23 cover the cost of the water and her trouble to wash one glass up. I was offered bottled water to buy but I didn't want to use single use plastic bottles. I'm not sure I've ever come across such meanness from a café owner . We're local to Seaton but we won't visit again. If you're in the hospitality business,...
