Holmleigh House B&B — Hotel in East Devon

Stayed at Holmleigh House at the beginning of July and from the outset Nigel and Linnea were the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble even down to Nigel carrying up our luggage while we parked the car and the tea and cake on arrival. Unfortunately Linnea had recently had a bad accident recently but still tried to do, in my opinion, too much. Nigel had arranged for our parking in the car park just around the corner in case there were no on street spaces, it was literally a 30 second walk. The room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was a bonus with the bath and seperate shower. The bed must have been a Superking and very comfortable it was too. The mini fridge, just outside the room, was an added bonus and there were plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits, along with water and milk provided. Now lets get to the breakfast, fantastic, the cooked breakfast was freshly cooked with local produce and tasted great, my partner had the poached eggs which were cooked perfectly and there was a vast array of fruit, cheeses, home made preserves etc. I am very particular about my cooked breakfast and Nigels hit the right spot :). You can tell that Nigel and Linnea have had many years experience in the hotel/B+B trade as it shows in their attention to detail and ease with which they make you feel at home. Oh, and finally it was our anniversary while we were away and they even got us a card and some flowers..........you don't get that at a Premier Inn! We felt lucky to have found Holmleigh. We were welcomed on arrival by Gaynor and shown to our rooms. We were on a Fossiling trip with our daughter and two small grandsons. Our room was spacious with a large bathroom and both were beautifully decorated, the toiletries were first class and the complimentary tea tray had far superior tea, coffee and biscuits than we have had in a four star hotel. The breakfasts are four star in every way! Every evening there was a log fire in the lovely, comfy lounge which had toys and games for the children and books etc for the grown ups. This is a true home from home and Gaynor is the perfect hostess, the boys can't wait for our next visit. Excellent...

My solo visit to Holmleigh House for 5 nights was wonderful. On arrival I was warmly greeted by Linnea & Nigel, with tea and warm blueberry muffin. My ensuite room was very clean, with lots of storage and an exceptionally comfy double bed. Excellent service and a tasty breakfast, with a very varied menu, which set me up for the day to enjoy the surroundings. Lots of help and advice in planning my day ahead as well.
