I originally scored Pebbles 4* purely on the cooked breakfast, coffee and decor. However, I've revised the score to 5* based on what Pebbles does for the community. On every table there's a small card that can be stood up to show others that you don't mind sharing, thus reducing social isolation. There's also a "Knit and Natter" group, well subscribed by the look of things, that helps with loneliness, and with making friends. Seaton Baptist church hold their "Men's Breakfast" every fortnight, and Pebbles is always happy to cook 10+ breakfasts at 06:30 hrs on a Friday. The church is also beginning to hold a community "Café" church on a Sunday afternoon, once a month, in the restaurant. I know factually that Pebbles do some very generous work with homeless people in the town. And the food? Excellent! And the service? Fantastic and engaging! Cakes? Wonderful! A really brilliant little hub for the community. Well done guys! You have my...
Read moreWhat a wonderful experience!! While on a day out in the area of Seaton & Beer on our way home we were gasping for a good cup of tea and a cake - we trawled around Seaton and most other places had either closed or were closing, so on our way back to the car we found Pebbles. What a result!! A wonderful little cafe, just on the corner from the seafront! We received a lovely warm welcome from what we assume was the owners, we were invited to sit in a surprisingly spacious dining area and our goodies were brought to us. I can't speak for the rest of the menu, which was certainly an admirable choice of fodder, but the tea and cake was delicious - just the right thing at just the right time. And no doubt we will be coming back here - to a point we've avoided Seaton partly due to its seeming absence of such places but now we know where Pebbles is, we...
Read moreWas looking for somewhere to have a quick bite to eat and found this family-friendly little café close to the seafront. Although it was very busy, the owner found me a nice place near the counter. The café is in a quaint Victorian building, but the interior decor is clean and modern, with some lovely artwork on the walls. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere in general was relaxed and casual. They do a simple menu that includes breakfasts, jacket potatoes, sandwiches and light meals as well as cream teas and some tempting cakes. Good choice of hot drinks. I ordered a fruit scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream. Service was quick, the scone was homemade and really fresh, and the pot of tea was good and hot. A satisfying refreshment break in a very welcoming environment, and at £5.50 good...
