This was the third or fourth time we’ve been since the change of owners. It used to be superb, but sadly has gone downhill. A couple of months ago we went for dinner. I had the carbonara, which was lacking in flavour, and very mediocre. Nothing like authentic Italian. Yesterday we stopped for lunch and both opted for the chicken salad. It’s virtually a Caesar without anchovies, which I asked for but was told they didn’t have any. Slightly disappointing, although fair enough. However, when the salads arrived (my wife had the same dish) they were swimming in a cheap dressing. Enough to make the lettuce soggy and unappetising. So, all we could do was pick out the bits of chicken and cherry tomatoes, eat those and leave the rest. The staff could see our plates covered in food but nobody said anything, such as “is everything okay?”. Instead they completely ignored this and offered us the bill! I had to point out to our waitress what the problem was and what should have happened, but to be honest we ended up feeling sorry for her. Plus, two of her colleagues were just behind her (including the chef) but nobody said a word. Quite bizarre. Such a shame as this place used to be lovely, with good quality ingredients, yummy food and great service.

2 more fabulous evenings at Cucina Dei Sapori in Alton, Hants. Festive fun on both Christmas and New Years Eve. Superb atmosphere, service, food and wine. The festive menu provided yet more Italian culninary delights, with the additon of new starters, mains and desserts. The service is always top class in this stylish homage to Italy and The Med. Both evenings were very busy but this did not detract from the quality of food or service. Cannot recommend it enough....

This place used to be the go to place as a coffee shop with the best homemade cakes in town (on display) and a nice spot for lunch that was authentic italian due to the previous owners. New owners think they have got it right - errr no Its now a below average coffee shop that can just about serve coffee and you want a nice cake - no chance

Its now twice as expensive to eat here for lunch than before and the food is dire to average. reheated risotto. bought in plastic wrapped foil packeted lasagne - seen the them bring them through the restaurant to kitchen (had to reheat 3 times and still luke warm). average pizza - not italian style

and as for an evening bistro - its a dire coffee shop with no atmosphere. dont waste your money here

lucky if this place lasts the year

Update - CdS have apparently now removed Pizzas and Lasagne since we last visited so assume they had issues and please dont insult me as its definitely the correct place - have lived here 22 years and visited Sapori since it opened but won't be coming anymore as you are making poor excuses for a below standard establishment and have taken away what was once a great place to...

VERY RUDE STAFF MEMBER! I visited this coffee shop with my partner, she took a seat outside whilst i waited patiently for the customer being served to be done before entering the shop. As I entered one of the guys serving asked if I had a mask. I replied politely that I was exempt, this isn't unusual to be asked however, the response from the other 'lad' behind the counter was rude and make me feel extremely uncomfortable. He demanded to see my 'exemption card' - I explained that you do not need one and he tried arguing that I did. His colleague quite rightly corrected him. I explained the manner in which he asked me (as if to accuse me of making my exemption up) was rude. He then continued to argue back by saying 'he was just doing his job'. He was an argumentative fool who thinks he knew best and caused me upset and embarrassment. I would recommend choosing to spend your money elsewhere until this member of staff is retrained on the law regarding face coverings and understands what not all disabilities...
