A sunny Saturday afternoon at a pub in the centre of historic Hertford. An excellent pint of Macmillan's IPA, smiling friendly staff and a welcoming manager with a wonderful sense of humour which made our day. Food as ever was quickly served, hot and cooked just right. If you like riverside pubs with a genuine waterside terrace and wonderfully lit as night falls then this pub is well worth a visit. Quiz and karaoke nights during the week. Dogs welcome as well.
Gave the Woolpack a return visit after a long absence and nothing had changed. Pleasant interior, beer as good as ever but music just not to our choice. There is a time and a place for garage/idie/hiphop style but this was not the time - 3.30pm in the 'graveyard shift. Really loud and playing to about six other customers. Food was delivered to the table super quick and was so delicious. It came very well presented , piping hot and plenty of it. The pub is a McMullens pub so a pint of AK is a must. The pub is very dog friendly. . . . In fact the team came out with treats and a bowl of water for ours which was a very nice touch. I must just say that the staff we engaged with were excellent. . . .very polite , friendly and had a can do attitude which is a rare thing these days. If you are in Hertford you must check out this pub which is situated in the town not far from the Castle Hall. We went here 2 days running for drinks and meals and was totally blown away with the hospitality. . . ....
Read moreNot good. First time back for 18 months.,We have been going here for years always great burgers. I think we had a bad experience once. What’s happened? First our meal was given to the wrong table. We swapped it over ourselves. Then the burger I had was burnt on the bottom. So it was sent back. The chips over cooked. The next burger was the same so I really didn’t have much to eat. Not one member of staff came over and asked how are meal was. The previous staff always did this. The chef really doesn’t know how to cook a burger. I remember once being told by a member of staff many years ago it takes 18 mins to cook these burgers to perfection well there was no perfection tonight. Overcooked burger over cooked chips. They have changed the buns and the chips why change things when they weren’t broken. Such a shame as we really enjoyed our...
