White Horse — Restaurant in East Lindsey

We have visited twice now.

The first time we went and got a table, and it was empty, there was us, a family next to us, who had an autistic child, and an elderly couple next to the door. We orders our food and it took 30 minutes for the drinks to arrive, we was watching the bar staff and they didn’t look bothered to be there, then they finally brought it other. The group next to us recieved their drinks at the same time. We had to wait nearly 2 hours for our food, and the family next to us were getting Unhappy, because their autism child was having a tantrum because the food was taking too long, the staff should be taking note of this because it’s horrible! They were getting irritated and we were too, so we asked where our food was and we had been waiting nearly 2 hours and all they said was that it was being cooked. It doesn’t take 2 hours to cook 2 Pies and 1 fish and Chips. By the time it arrived, the food was cold and dry, the taste was Tasteless, and the portions was minute. The family next to us hadn’t even received there’s yet which was Discusting. Before we left we told the staff they were doing a horrible job and the cooks were, but they said they couldn’t go any faster. 2hours to make food, and 30 minutes to make drinks, I don’t think so.

They had rebranded this time The second time it was packed out, and we went quite late so there was only 1 hour until it closed. There was 1 available seat so we went there. We were told there was a one hour wait on food but we could still order. What would be the point, we couldn’t receive our food because they would be shut. We decided to leave, and I would just like to note that the toilets were not at a acceptable standard and the tables were not clean. Apparently they was understaffed which I can understand, but if they are why would they take so many orders, sounds like...

We came in as we were on holiday and the staff were absolutely amazing as we were having troubles with a crappy gift card and they were so polite, good decorant and they were very helpful understanding and they even tried helping and a very special mention to the member of staff lily (i hope i spelt your name right) as she was amazing and she was so kind and funny but served us and helped us out loads and put no pressure on us and even offered loads of solutions and she was honestly amazing and her situational management and stress management was some of the best I've ever seen from a pub member of staff honestly amazing person amazing experience and all the staff are amazing and lovely and create such a good atmosphere but she really went above and beyond and honestly deserves a promotion or a pay rise because she really was amazing and i cant fault them at all honestly amazing pub highly recommended people come here and help their business boom because the staff deserve it and to be honest lily deserves it because she honestly was amazing and definitely deserved some recognition and a pay rise or promotion as she was probably one of the most professional staff ive ever seen and i dont normally leave reviews but this place deserves it and way more then earns it and lily especially earned it as she went above and beyond so she really needed the special mention so well done white horse and well done lily ur amazing and ur the best so thank you and wish u the best for ur life and career and keep being perfect and amazing! Especially keep being shining Amazing star and beam...

Upon entering, it was very busy, granted it is the Easter Bank Holidays. We found ourselves a table and had zero contact with any staff.

The bar was very busy and the service was exceptionally slow, it almost felt as though they were ignoring the customers waiting.

After finally getting their gluten free menu from the bar, we saw on their menu that they have an app to order from rather than wait for the abysmal service again.

We ordered our food, mine being scampi, chips and peas, and my wife's being the gluten free sausage and mash.

The food was out relatively quickly (around 15 minutes).

When the food arrived it looked good, my wife said hers was great and that is fantastic!

My food was also good however the tartar sauce provided to me looked like someone's old sauce that they didn't eat, given to me in a ramakin it had major discolouration as if it was poured into it the day before.

So without a seal, the tartar sauce (which contains egg) was clearly going off , with almost a putty like texture, it very much put me off my meal.

Overall the food was good, but I am massively disappointed in the resturant, giving me that rotten sauce which could have got anyone ill was a food safety violation and as a former chef I would have never dreamed of doing such a thing, especially if it was a unused open container potentially retrieved from a different customers finished plate.
