Very poor service. Food not great. We ordered 4 alcoholic drink and then also ask for a jug of water for 4. They brought us 4 pints of water, a little strange but not the worst. Not a lot of room on the table but heyho. We were then ordering the food. We ordered 2 curries (one was chicken Methi) and an Shaslick. We also asked about the tandoori sizzlers. After explaining them to us we decided on a Madras instead. He actually read the order back to us. When the food came no Madras and no salad nor yogurt with the Shaslick. When we told them they brought them out 10 minutes later! No apology for their mistake or us having to wait. The Methi was poor. The rest of the food was very average at best. When we paid the bill, at the front bar, not at the table, not a problem though, we commented on the Madras and salad n yogurt not coming on time. The manager, who took the table order from us, and was quite cold, almost rude, said we didn’t order madras! We told him we were discussing the sizzler for a good few minutes ( because my brother was asking if the chicken came in strips, as he likes it, the manager said no it’s comes in cubes). That’s why he decided on the madras instead!! We suggested that maybe he shouldn’t charge us for the madras as a nice gesture for the inconvenience and waiting. He saidNO. As this was happening he was also very rude/aggressive to a member of his own staff. So I would say this wasn’t our best experience of an Indian restaurant. I would add that we go out, mainly in our home town of Leicester, for an Indian at least every 3 or 4 weeks, so we have lots to compare with. This was definitely the worst experience I can remember. The staff seemed very indifferent, probably mirroring the manager. I can honestly say, we didn’t see one of them smiling. If, the manager was very apologetic and said something like, I very sorry but unfortunately I can’t knock everything off the bill for whatever reason, then maybe we wouldn’t have been so annoyed. But no, he was right. So, if you want some very average food with really poor service then this is the place for you. On the other hand, if you want really good food in a nice environment...
Read moreIf we could give 0 stars, we would. On Saturday the 29th of July, our family (2 adults and 3 children) decided to order a takeaway from The Gandhi. In hindsight this was the worst decision we have made in a long time. After being told the food would take 20 minutes, we waited 40 minutes before receiving any of the food which we paid near to £40 for. We took the food back to our resort to eat and we opened our food only to find that a large portion of what we had ordered was missing. We therefore called The Gandhi & were told to come back to collect the missing food from our order so my dad proceeded to go collect it alone. After waiting for him for 50 minutes it was obvious something wasn’t right. We finally got in touch with him and were informed that the owner of the restaurant, his son and 2 chefs had subjected my dad to a very serious physical assault, the attack was believed to have lasted around 25 minutes and there were weapons brought out in an attempt to do further harm. The police were called to the scene by someone who had witnessed the assault and the amount of blood which was left behind, all my dad's, was startling. 2 of these men held my dad down so he was unable to defend himself or get away from the attack whilst the other 2 men continued to beat and kick him, which resulted in him having to push himself back with his legs to stop them from dragging him back into the kitchen area. The moral of the story is, the people running this restaurant have no care for their customers and no respect for the law. My dad is not a small person, I dread to think what they might do to someone who is not able to stand their ground and stop them from dragging them to a more private location. Customer service is absolutely non-existent where The Gandhi is concerned, further more should you wish to express any form of dissatisfaction the results are unbelievably dire. This place is the exact opposite to what their name represents, they have disgraced the name Gandhi and ruined the evening for us, as well as everyone who had to witness the attack as well. This experience totally ruined my family’s short break away, avoid this place...
Read moreCalled before going in at 6 to ask for availability and parking but declining the call after answering. When we got there at 7 there was a group of 8 us including children and we got told he wouldn’t serve us as he has no space and won’t give us how long the wait is. Straight up told us if you want wait then wait otherwise leave. Found this to be quite rude with disrespect. He had no regard for who the customer was surrounding and he served other customers before us and even they apologised that they were being served before us as even she knew we deserved the table before her. The staff is also treated very badly. They were told not to disturb the manager (who was dealing with us) and said to do your own job. There was worker who only started recently and was asking for some help and in return he insulted him and he asked him do you even know the spelling of coke? But the worker just took the insult with a smile. Personally I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to any Asians as they don’t really get treated with respect. The food if vegetarian has limited choices and the food is quite overpriced for what it’s worth. Our bill came to £150+ which was shocking as this was quite over budget to what we expected. The final bill that was drafted just had the final amount and not each individual amount to show how the bill was split.
I normally don’t write bad reviews about restaurants but unfortunately I feel this...
