I'm a Burton local and a pretentious beer shop in Burton feels wrong. This place sells beers from around the world which is OK but there wasn't much there that you can't find in Sainsbury's just across the road for half the price. They sell Marston's and Bridge beers which are Burton beers so really easy to get hold of. Even the continental beers are Belgian, French and German so are already mostly stocked in the Beer isle in Sainsbury's. I visited as I had a Belgian colleague with me who wanted to take something back home. Now here's our background, we work in breweries all around the world!! We were given the history and science to the beers but the facts were close but not 100% accurate. Also the guy selling wasn't the most personable, there was no passion for brewing but a hesitant selling technique. I felt a little guilty letting my college pay over the odds for 2 beers that we could got from the local supermarket, with no offer from the seller of this information. I know a sale is a sale but why sell "off the shelf Burton beers" in BURTON??
In response to the response given. My Grammer and Spelling is partly driven by Google's fantastic ability to alter the descriptive after it has been typed and also my Dyslexia.. but we will skip the personal comments about being ill educated and a local drunkard looking for my next quick fix.
I am am a proud supported of the IBD, BFBI and SIBA (which for anyone outside of the brewing industry are trade associations for small independent breweries upto large multinationals) As for the brewery contacts, we work with ALL the big multinationals worldwide as well as the small to medium craft and mainstream breweries both here in the UK and worldwide. I am very sure we already work with most of the breweries who supply the fine products you sell.
We provide independent appraisals of breweries, distilleries and wine producers practices offering support and products to help even if this is guiding them to use a competitors product, service or equipment as this is what customers need to hear when they are unsure what to try next.
You are 100% correct in regards to the declining state of Burton retail sector. Your store is flanked by a nail bar, pizza shop, and other smaller retailers, but please be VERY careful when banding Carling around as a snub especially as you are located not 200m away from the very place that it is created by some very hard working brewers, engineers and technicians. Some of which I know would take that comment personally due to their passion for their product. But again this comes down to knowing and respecting your customers, even if you don't agree with their initial responses. Always work WITH them towards a common goal.
I will say it's great to hear you passion for your store in your comments and would like to see that...
Read moreIt is the best place to have a drink. Starting as a shop, now become a pub as well. In the daytime you can buy some good ale, lager or cider. In the evening you can pop in for a pint. The friendly staff welcomes you and make you feel good. They have a big and good choice of beers and ciders. The interior is very unique. The localisation is great, opposite to Sainsbury, nearly in the town centre. The place is big enough to have many people. However, it is still cozy and not too loud. The service is very good and fast. The staff makes you feel amazing and very welcome. They are very friendly and treat you very good. We just had a pint of great beer to taste. You can try one of the best beers and ciders from all the world. This place leaves only positive memories in your mind. This place is one of the best to chill out in Burton. Five star can be not even enough for all you get here. You can see all drinks on the shelves and it is put in beautiful design. It is mix of vintage, wood and loft interior.dont miss that place if you're in...
Read moreThis great shop is the only one of it’s kind in Burton-on-Trent. It has the most extensive array of beers from all around the world, completely living up to it’s name and also an extremely good range of craft lagers as well. If you need any help, the staff member is knowledgeable and happy to help, as in my case when I wanted a bit of advice regarding their authentic Russian selection, my knowledge of the Russian language is non existent 😀 so I was happy for a bit of advice. The products are always neatly laid out and I would recommend this shop to everybody living in Burton and nearby areas and also to anyone visiting Burton to watch their team against the Albion or for whatever reason that you might be in Burton. It is a wonderful specialist shop, located aptly, in one of the historical brewing capitals...
