When searching for ‘gluten free cafe Felixstowe’, Blue & Berry Café was at the top of the list, and just so happened to be the closest to where I was at that time. I popped in and on asking about GF catering, they pointed me to a selection of cakes (coffee and walnut, and brownies) on display, and handed me a menu while informing me of GF bread.
The sandwich selection all sounded delicious, and I opted for the honey roast ham and cheese with GF bread. This is the first establishment I’ve been to in all my 20+ years of being gluten free where I’ve been asked if I’d like white or brown GF bread! What a pleasant change to have a choice! I also opted for a cappuccino.
Expecting a short wait for my drink and sandwich, I sat down and got out my knitting. I was halfway through the first line when my coffee arrived, and by the time I was finishing that same line my sandwich arrived! Very prompt service indeed.
The staff were lovely, the café comfortable and well decorated. It’s been a gel of a find, and I’ll be sure to return on my next visit...
Read moreDisappointing compared to the first time we went there. Food and service has gone downhill. You can obviously see they are skimping costs but charge high. I've worked in restaurants and I know chips are cheap but they have put a very small amount of chips it actually looks embarrassing. The amount you get is even less than a kid's portion! At a guess less than 15 chips. Might as well not serve with chips if you are going to give so little. The mash I had was really hard and was not nice at all. Service was poor. Gave us our food but no cutlery which we had to ask. They never bothered to check if any of us wanted another drink when half of us had empty glasses. Also staff could do with training on hygiene and safety as if I was waitress I would hand out glass handling the bottom of the glass and not touch the rim where people drink from unless clearing dirty glasses. So overall was really disappointed as was looking forward to a meal there. Won't be going back again...
Read moreThe Blue Nan was a place i spotted on Google before departing on my trip to Felixstowe. Although i fancied fish and chips all day, we decided to pop in for a curry as it was inly down the road rrom our hotel. The first thing is that this place dies not serve alcohol. On asking why, it was stated by the change of owner that it was because if his religious belief. He tells you this at the door so the choice is yours whether to stay ir go. I ordered a Lamb Vindaloo. I have been making and eating curries for years and i can tell you that this was the best, tastiest curry that i have ever had. The owner done the rounds talking to his customers which was a nice touch before realising that he was promoting his YouTube channel and New book as stating that he taught the chefs in the kitchen how to create the food. Can't blame him o suppose. They are all doing it these days. Well, apart from me. I must be missing out on something perhaps? A recommended...
