Delphine's — Restaurant in East Suffolk

I dined here on September 28, 2024, and was unfortunately let down by the food quality. While the exterior is quite inviting, the experience itself fell short. The hot dog was rather bland—merely a frankfurter in a bun with minimal onions and no sauces; the accompanying salad seemed oddly misplaced for a “burgers and hot dog diner.” The children's cheeseburger was quite disappointing, lacking cheese and served in a bun that had simply been cut in half, featuring a charred patty in a crusty roll. My son took one bite and opted not to continue. The fries were excessively oily, reminiscent of those from a low-grade café. On a brighter note, the nachos were decent.

I typically refrain from leaving negative reviews for small businesses, but given the standards you promote and the pricing, £50 feels unjustifiable. There are considerably better dining options in Aldeburgh for a casual lunch.

Google maps said this place was open 10-4 today so I went for it. At 10:30 the proprietor was taking chairs off the tables as if opening! I asked "are you open?" and he said "no, it says open weekends 10-4" (I paraphrase) and pointed to a sign on the door, which does indeed say "Open weekends 10-4". I then asked, "oh, not during the week then?" and he didn't look up and carried on cleaning tables, presumably in preparation for tomorrow morning's business! The sign itself may be accurate but does not necessarily imply that the café is not open at all during the week. I left frankly feeling deflated and slightly embarrassed after having been spoken to in such a patronising and rude way. It doesn't bode well for the dining experience for the few who turn up on...

I love this diner! From our 1st visit in December the 2nd time we came back in February it was delightful! The owner is super sweet and friendly and the food is fantastic! There is so much thought that goes into each dish, from layout, design, and ingredients, visually stunning! down to the sprinkle of fresh dill! I love that there are gluten free options for me and also "manly" man food choices for the husband. hot diggity dog! The decor is so fun, I love the mint green theme, the vivid fabrics, and all the fun little things to look at.
