I would like to say that the bar is incredibly well furnished, looks great and had a brilliant atmosphere within it. The food I found very good value and the portion sizes were generous, so much so I couldn't eat it all. It was great to have a steak cooked as requested and not be covered in salt. Food was delivered promptly. That is, unfortunately where the compliments end. I had booked a table for my wife's birthday well ahead of time and had asked on the off chance if there was anything they could do to make the evening a bit more special. Was advised they couldn't but more than happy to put up some balloons and bring out a cake if provided. No issues with that. Issue I do have, is not having our reservation at all and then being made to wait around while a table is found for us. Throughout the evening our waitress continued to ask us "what do you want" when taking our orders. The friendliness and approachability of the staff was awful. The place did say (I say did because I've edited the opening times) it was open until midnight so after we finished our meal, which my wife found incredibly greasy we used the bathrooms (there are cameras in there) and decided to have a coffee. It was roughly just after 10pm at this point. So the staff had to turn on the coffee machine reluctantly as they'd already cleaned it in order to make us our drinks. I asked what time they were open till and was told that they stopped serving food at 1030 so thought we still had a while to relax. Needless to say it was difficult to really enjoy the drinks as the staff were hovering near us and at one point actually started cashing up the tills whilst we were in the restaurant. Very security conscious 🤨 We promptly finished and asked if they could recommend a taxi service, again, it seemed like this was too much to ask. Fortunately my wife and I aren't the type of people to let it affect our evening but if poor service, a no can do attitude and staff who just want to get home on time affect you, then this is not the place to go. Really a shame, because the rest of Lowestoft has been great.

Ooo some classy dining in lowey but at a good price! Wanted something for lunch that wasn’t a roast (being a Sunday most places are roasts). Decided to try iconic and was not disappointed. We parked In the nearest car park which was about a minute walk. We were greeted with a warm welcome and attentive server and shown to our seats. We went for the grill as there was an offer of a free soft drink with every meal, (alcohol was an additional £1.50) and I went for the steak. The atmosphere is classy and vibrant and you feel like you’re in a high end establishment but you can just enjoy the classic food and drink which is a nice medium. The food as you can see is generous portions and the steak was cooked nearer well done over medium (steak is hard to master so will let them off!), chips appeared hand cut which I liked. The onion rings were sadly very greasy and I avoided a lot of the batter because of this, the salad also had an orange slice and bit of watermelon which I’m still not sure if works when you have a pile of carbs next to it, I didn’t eat these. My other half had the 3 steps to heaven and he said was nice but the sauce was a little too sweet. It’s definitely worth a visit, great for date night, friends and family alike or even alone. One thing I did like was the staff were well presented with matching uniforms and professional, they were very attentive to all customers and helped an elderly man with a walker get in an out of the building as it does have steps at the front (no step free access) which says a lot about their appreciation of customers. They said thank you for coming when we left and felt wanted and appreciated. You could lose many hours here just relaxing. ☺️

Visited yesterday as a family of 6 including two adults and 4 children. The location is hard to find, you need to turn left and keep turning left until you are outside it, you will think it's a path for pedestrians but no you keep going and eventually find spaces right outside the window. Our waitress was Sophy, such a lovely person, funny and happy all the way through. The bar is really cool with stylish interior, walls full of bubbles, floor to ceiling glass looking out to sea and nicely dressed tables. An immaculately clean highchair was there as well which is a first. Husband had the lamb shank that fell off the bone, he said it was the best he had ever eaten. I had prawn and crayfish with side salad and chips, onion rings and coleslaw (onion rings were an extra side) and it was well presented, tasty and a good sized portion. Children had sausages, chips and veg, prawn cocktail with caviar (and actually liked it lol), kids meals included a drink and ice cream. Every plate was clean at the end, that's a first for us eating out as the kids usually don't like something. The puddings were the usual run of the mill shop bought stuff so they weren't as good as the main but all in all we loved the vibe, the decor and the effort. Bill was ÂŁ80 for 2 adult meals, a starter as a main, 2 sides, 2 kids meals and desserts all round. Tables were cleared promptly, nothing was too much trouble and Sophy was lovely to the children as well as us. I feel she's an asset to the company and I hope management see this review There was only one negative and that's the really restricted drinks menu. They only have lemonade or coke, and only one type of cider (strongbow)!!!!

Lovely looking place, very modern and clean. Extremely friendly staff, seemingly good deals to be had. My Husband ordered the 'Ultimate Surf and Turf' which promised a delicious 8oz Rump steak and whole tail scampi, golden battered king prawns and a prawn salad, when asked how he'd like his steak cooked, he said rare. I had the mixed grill which promised Gammon steak, Rump Steak, Lamb Chop, Pork Steak, Liver, Chicken and Suffolk Sausages. We both opted for hand cut chips and coleslaw and I asked for my steak to be cooked medium/rare.

What a disappointment...Hubby's steak was well done and tough, onion rings were soaking in grease, the coleslaw was gelatinous and tasted like it should have been thrown away the day before! No whole tail scampi, nor king prawns. There were just some battered scampi.

My mixed grill was terrible, all meat was tough and very dry, the chicken was a boneless thigh with horrid, flacid skin/fat (actually looked more like road kill!) The lamb chop was one mouthful at best, the sausages....I couldn't even go there! Suffolk sausages!!?? They looked more like Bratwurst and were pale with green flecks. My husband tried one but he said it was very firm and tasted like Bratwurst.

Sadly we both left most of it, I swapped my steak with my husband's as his 'rare' came out well done, where as my medium/rare was rare.

Cannot fault the staff, from the get go, they were attentive and helpful and when they could see we'd stopped eating despite our plates hardly being touched, they were efficient and apologised and said they'd speak to the kitchen and work out what they'd charge us.

Basically we paid for one meal, which we did appreciate them sorting that.

Such a shame, as I think if you maybe reduced quantity and upped quality you'd be...
