A lovely experience here at Martello Coffee House. Lovely little place with a elevated Cafè/British Pub style interior with good quality food. Having never been here before I didn't know whether you seat yourself down or are seated by staff. (Seat yourself) and also found the ordering system quite clunky. Fetch your menus, go to your seat, grab a tray, queue up and each person has to wait for the previous persons drinks to be served before they have their order taken. I think service personally would be better if all orders were taken and then drinks were delivered to table (i know that puts strain on kitchen but we were in line for over 10 minutes, after 2pm, hate to see it in rush hour)! You also have to get your own cutlery, Napkins, sauces and salt and pepper.
Aside from that fantastic selection of food items, all day breakfast, amazing sweet counter with cakes, apple pies, millionaires shortbread, rocky road, cupcakes you name it it's there! All very nice looking. Seems in the summer they also do ice cream with milkshakes, however it was all crossed out on the menu, probably as its winter.
Really enjoyed my Matcha latte and cajun chicken with chips and salad. My partners fish and chips portion was bloody huge! Tasted fab too.
We were a little put off at first by the prices (Everything in the pictures including a fresh squeezed orange juice was over £40), however it's good quality and a local business so if you have the money its worth it. However for the price i would expext tables to be cleaned a bit better, napkins and cutlery to be placed already on your table. For that reason we won't return often, but maybe once every now and again...
Read moreBeen coming here years has slowy got worse each time but havent been in about 6 months untill today, so thought id give them another shot, (what a waste of time and money that was) £30+ for 2 breakfasts, a latte and a oj, which wouldnt be too bad if they had decent chefs, i requested the bacon to be well done and the eggs to be flipped not slimy like they usally are and what i Received was bacon that was barely even grilled on one side and the eggs rock hard, totally not what i requested, when they brought the food out i had to send it back straight away as they put beans on which i asked them not to so he takes the whole lot away then brings it back 5 minutes later saying ive got another 5 minute wait for the hash browns which i then sent the whole order back and asked for a refund which the server said was fine, i then go to get said refund to then be greeted with some "lady" with the biggest attuide problem ive ever encounted in hospitally who then tried to argue saying that there was nothing wrong with it and it is againt policy to give refunds which is fair enough if the food was correct but as it came out wrong the first time and then not far off raw the 2nd i found to be rather Outrageous, will never be returning and will advice anyone who wants a decent meal to steer very clear...
Read moreMartello's is a great place to visit. It is located in sparrow's nest park We had a lovely walk, we brought peanuts in shells for the squirrels, they will come right up to you if you are patient. Afterwards we sat outside Martello's. It is a little sun trap. Plenty of seating and even a childrens play area with climbing frames and swings. We always have an ice cream simply because the rhubarb and custard ice cream is delicious. We visit a few times each summer and the quality of the food and service is always excellent. Today we had chicken wraps. The chicken was plentiful and moist. The wraps were big and the staff were very kind in changing certain things to suit our taste the wraps came with a beautiful garnish, not just a few leaves but a proper salad with radish, red onion, cress, chilli and mixed leaves making it colourful and appealing. There is also a ramekin filled with coleslaw This was great food at a very reasonable price. If you are looking for a place with lovely views of the sea and a lovely setting, kid friendly and good food... Martello's is the place for you. Don't forget to feed the...
