I visited this place with my wife, and she liked it although it's at the back of a industrial estate, but the view out too sea are good, you can see the ships but it's best to bring a pair of binoculars to see better . When you get there you must observe the warning signs and if the flood gate is shut then you can not make your way down to the beach which in fact is a promenade, with a substantial sea defence with more warning signs and a railing that runs along most of the see front. journey time from the town I started from Stourbridge west Midlands to great yarmouth at a average speed of seventy miles a hour, four hours best. You can use a wheelchair if you want to but the incline from the gate down is steep , which makes the journey back to the gate difficult but it can be done, it's all down to how strong you are and are you able to push ,but there are public benches behind the flood gate and sea wall that will give you a good view out to see as well , a person in a wheelchair will also be able to get a view also. Overall it's a good visit just observe the weather conditions before you go and you might see the wind turbine working if it's windy enough. A nice day out if the...
Read moreReally, at one time it must of had some thing going for it?!? It is now run down and severely neglected!! The viewing area has plaques missing and just bolts showing with graffiti on what might of been some form of sculpture or monument. I think that there might of been landscape flower beds but these now resemble rubbish pits and dogs toilets. The industrial background with holes in the buildings roofing adds more misery along with a misleading sign that instead of pointing towards the compass marking / dial on the floor of Ness point, makes you look North and if you don't know what you are looking for, could take you right past it. I thought that John O Groats was poor, Mess point is more apt for Ness Point Lowestoft. It was not worth taking photos of. No one would be proud of that place in the condition it is in!! This is the opinion from the three of us that went...
Read moreWhen visiting places, you may often find yourself saying, "Oh well, at least I can say I've been there." With regards to Ness Point, just lie to people and say you've been there. I'm surprised, even back in the day, that the local council decided to build an industrial estate at a geographically significant place. According to their own website, the council admit that the place needs something and that people should write in with their suggestions. I read a review saying that a kids play park had opened here..? I don't think so, unless you consider the rocks and certain death a play park. It gets two stars because the nearby wind turbine, originally the largest one in the UK is quite impressive to be fair. But honestly, just read the reviews, close your eyes and pretend you're...
