Ten out of ten for this amazing restaurant! Absolutely first class food. Highly customer focussed. Delightful professional charming generous owner; imaginative chef and very hard working team of staff including Miah who made dining at this fabulous restaurant an exceptional culinary delight and a true experience for us to cherish and remember. These gracious Stars of Sylhet treat diners so beautifully and so warmly. Their natural Bengali poise; class and graceful manners shine through, and they - together with the chef's sumptuous food, make the Lowestoft Tandoori the top No.1 jewel in Lowestoft's crown! Their menu offers a uniquely fantastic array of dishes. Those we tried were so delicious. Authentic flavours, wonderful presentation. Tables were laid with fine white linen. Fresh red roses and candles graced each table. Our drinks - fresh squeezed lime lemonade and cool tall Cobra beers were superb. Done to crispy & soft perfection were the oh so delectable Garlic Nan which was hot and fresh and tasty. The poppadoms were crispy and highly moorish! The hot Mango chutney was divine as were other sauces made from tamarind, mint and chilli. The meals we had - my word, we were quite speechless. I must confess their delicious taste and aroma meant we just dived in and ate like we were starving! Our King Prawn Tava was fit for a king and accompanied by a little curl of a cucumber basket containing a delightful scattering of fresh pomegranate and olives. Amazing, too, were our creamy well spiced Chicken dishes and the fragrant pilau rice! Other tasty dishes to tempt us disappeared in a flash as we ate and feasted like kings in this comfortable and friendly jewel of a restaurant. The wonderful smartly dressed professional owner and staff, and the chef's amazing food sets this special restaurant apart from all others. Everything about it is unique. We loved it. We were amazed by it. And we will return. Ten out of ten for the spectacularly delicious...
Read moreWent out for a meal after hearing how good this place is supposed to be. Felt rushed from the moment we stepped in the door , we hadn't even got our coats off and poppadoms were on the table even before seeing the menu , and my partners favourite mango chutney wasn't with the sauces . My main was good but not huge for the £15 they charged and my partners was a veg korma at also £15 which seemed a bit steep We shared a rice and had one naan and Bombay aloo and 3 beers. A different waiter put a " free" dish on the table and I asked if it was vegetarian and he said no sorry but did then come back with onion bagee for her. I took a bite of the free dish and boom nearly blew my head off. Asked him what it was and he said kofta. Thought that didn't seem right so asked the original waitress and she said chicken Naga which then made sense why it was so hot. Bill time came and couldn't read some of it but thought the total was a bit steep and now reading some other reviews have realised they probably charged us for some of the so called freebies so beware if offered these as you are likely going to be paying for them. Veg korma £15 👀 Chicken balti £15 Drinks x 3 bottles of beer £18 Garlic and cheese naan 1 mushroom rice 1 Bombay aloo
Total £67 Overall would say the mains are expensive to make up for the freebies you are given without consent and if I hadn't asked for change from the £80 that I gave the girl I don't think she would have bought any back . Overall don't think we will be back as would rather pay for things I want then have freebies thrust on me that I couldn't eat but probably paid for anyway. Bit disappointed as had takeaway from here before and was great and...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant a few weeks ago and I promised to write a review because I was that pleased.. So good was our experience that a couple weeks later I am still sitting here and writing the review because I feel they deserve it.
We were staying in a holiday camp nearby and being slightly fed up food on site we decided to venture out for something to eat. There were 8 of us and the restaurant managed to accommodate us on very short notice. It was really friendly and when we arrived we were greeted by very willing staff.
The food we ordered came really quickly and so did the drinks and we were completely surprised because we were offered so many additional things on top of the food we ordered, we were waiting for the sting in the tail. It just didn't come.
The generosity of the restaurant meant that we had an abundance of food. We were able to try some dishes that were offered as tasters and they added to our overall meal and experience. The bill was completely reasonable and we were overwhelmed by the great quality of food at such fantastic prices.
I had a king prawn dish which was out of this world. So much so that I couldn't finish it all and took the rest home because I didn't want to leave it. It's served me for lunch the next day and left me wanting more. Almost worth me driving from London just to have that one dish again.
They say great things come in small packages. It's a very small restaurant but it's a brilliant one. If you live nearby or you are passing through don't miss this off your list. It was great. Thank you to all the staff that work there and thank you for making a bunch of out-of-towners feel so welcome and so well fed!...
