We visited Lowestoft as a family at the end of the half term week with a plan to do some shopping in the morning. We'd done a quick bit of research in advance and based on other people's reviews had decided to pop into Perry's on our way back to depositing the shopping in the car.
Perry's is just off one end of the main shopping street and, it has to be said, the restaurant doesn't look terribly promising from the outside. However, we decided to trust in the reviews and after determining that there were spare seats inside we went in.
The seating area is a bit cramped (we had to split our party of five across two tables in order to get a high chair for our two year old out of the aisle) and I'm not sure you'd fit a wheelchair in there (or at least not easily) and the decor a bit plain aside from pictures of the locality.
Fortunately, the thing you're actually there for, the fish and chips, is a winner. We've been to quite a couple of seaside fish & chip shops over the past few years and been disappointed that the fare wasn't at the very least as good as that we normally get from our local chippy. Not so at Perry's. This is probably the first place we've come across that rivals, or possibly even betters, the fish and chips we are used to from home.
The adults in the party all went for the large fish and chips, although with the size of the portions we should probably have gone for medium as we all ended up leaving a few chips on the plate (the fish was too good to leave uneaten) and if we were to be in Lowestoft again we'd definitely be back for more.
Possibly the only real criticism I'd have of Perry's is that perhaps the serving staff could ask customers whether they want the drinks straight away or when the food is ready. The teas we had with our meal were brought out quite quickly but as the meals were cook to order we'd finished them before the food arrived and they'd probably have been cold if we'd not drunk them when they arrived.
In terms of facilities, there was seating for around 30 people, if memory serves me correctly. There was one high chair available for use and I saw one booster...

Read moreI don't have a clue how this place is still in business, the food is disgusting, the chips are stale, undercooked, full of black eyes and bits of skin, they have that sour taste of old warm ups, and they get as many chips as possible out of the potatoes as the "chips" are all just sharp, hard, dried up small slivers of cheap spuds. Everything I've tried here is horrible, and expensive, i won't be going again and will certainly be recommending others to stay away, i work amongst a few businesses just nearby, I'd already been warned not to go to Perry's, i wish I'd listened...
