Very difficult to rate, walked all around the building no open doors until we arrived at the side gate where we walked in yet nobody to be seen in the outdoor area with some benches in front of some old stable doors and a marquee erected behind. In front a sign with directions to the toilets with a hot potatoe wagon behind and a pizza bar hem packed with anything but pizza that looked as it had not been used in decades. I followed the sign for the toilet and entered the public house the looked like in had been abandoned mid gig like the Mary Salest. As we were walking out to leave a young man entered the side gate asking if he could help us. Normality returned we sat outside on one of the benches while he opened up! We sat at an unoccupied table with food on it and reassured them we didn’t expect them to clean it up as we was just drinking sat on the stools.The owner came over very aggressive telling us to calm despite us being very calm and it was in fact him who was very angry for some reason. Think his frustration came from the fact they had to clean up a table which is a bit strange as it is a pub.
Perhaps they would have been more polite if we was regulars with local accents. I’ve ready a few reviews on here saying the same thing but that’s the Angel pub...
Read moreWe are new to the area and recently discovered the Angel. They offer a very good selection of ales and lager beers from draught, but their specialty must be their gin & tonics. The lady who served us was very enthusiastic about the selection of gins and tonics, and made some excellent recommendations based on our taste. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the week after. We were welcomed back and the staff remembered what drinks we had during our previous visit. That is a level of service that I do not experience often....
