Latest Update- the kitchen is now up and running and this has meant the pub is no longer a 'wet' pub. The Saturday group of 'old codgers' I was in have been effectively pushed out as no table available for us now so we've moved elsewhere. Went there on Sunday evening and had slow roast beef meal at post 6pm price of £10. Excellent value at that price but at normal £17.95 is more than challenged by the Bull nearby. By 9pm the place was empty and when I arrived at 8pm was quiet. From this experience the atmosphere that characterised this pub has all but been lost, The open fire was dead at 8pm. The new seats are wearing out very quickly, cushion base padding is going already. So overall Deben Inns rather than setting a suitable compromise have in my view made this yet another eatery in a former pub.

Now owned by Deben Inns but currently little or no food available as the kitchen is having a major upgrade. Bar prices have risen. Decor has had a significant upgrade as has the furniture. Still has its old world charm. Former comment -Beautiful old building but needs a good update inside, some seat covers haven't been cleaned for years and rowdy groups are not asked to calm down. The owner needs to get more involved in the day to...

Me and my parents had a terrible experience coming here. We were guided to a six chair table but there was three of us and the chairs were tiny and uncomfortable on our backs. The service was awful, we had to wait such a long time for someone to come and take our orders. Other people around us were waiting a long time too, someone had to ask if they needed to come up to the bar to order or order at their table. There were three or four people behind the bar and only one of them actually went round asking people if they were ready to order, or if everything was ok with their meals. The others were just standing behind the bar. Also my Dad had to go up to the bar to ask for a drink for my Mum, no-one came to our table. For the total price of everything, it was way too expensive for what we had. The food was average. Then when we were finished we saw students everywhere. There were loads outside and they were shouting and swearing and it was really off putting. So you'll be greeted by them when you're finished and their cigarette...

The kings head woodbridge has always been one of my favourite pubs in town. It had been some 4 months since I last visited and I was looking forward to enjoying a few pints of broadside. The pub was about half full so not that busy. My wife and I got our drinks and sat at a table which was not set up for dining and no reserved notice present. Three quarters of our way through our drinks a member of staff approached my wife and and stated that this table was reserved and could we move to another table. I did state that if the table was reserved we would not have sat there. So I said we'll drink up and move on to which the member of staff told us no you need to move NOW! What should have been an enjoyable experience was cut short by a member of staff with very poor customer service skills. Needless to say we finished our drinks at the...

Cosy, welcoming, warm and dog friendly We stopped off in town on a Sunday and on the off chance popped in to see if they could accommodate us with a dog for a Sunday lunch. So welcoming, very friendly and warm staff and the food was amazing. We had the vegetarian nut roast wellington and it was great! The roast potatoes were SO good and the nut roast was really well cooked and very flavourful (and with chunky real nuts too which isn’t always the case) As a vegetarian it was great - there was also pumpkin ravioli on the menu which sounded great too! A wholesome stop - good wine and some non-alcoholic options too. An understated and lovely pub.

This pub has a great environment—it's very spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with no sticky or greasy tables. Even the restrooms are spotless and pleasantly fragrant. As for the food, I ordered the venison pie, which was absolutely delicious. I've never had such tender venison before. The sauce was slightly on the salty side, but it paired perfectly with the tangy cabbage and refreshing beer. The overall atmosphere was fantastic, making it a great spot for a weekend afternoon gathering. Additionally, many families brought their dogs along, making it a pet-friendly choice for customers with furry companions.

This is a beautiful late 15th century grade II listed timber framed pub, so has bags of character and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff are super friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious, beautifully presented, and hearty portions. I had fish and chips and the twice cooked chips were the crispiest, fluffiest, most tasty chips I’ve ever had! After a day in the sunshine we sat inside and soaked up the atmosphere but there’s also a great beer garden outside which was still in the warm April sunshine. We’ll definitely be back!
