Disappointing Experience at The Waffle Shack

I had high hopes for The Waffle Shack, but my recent visit was incredibly disappointing. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt off—almost awkward. It was as if the staff didn't want to be there, and that feeling rubbed off on the entire dining experience.

We waited far too long just to be acknowledged, and it wasn't even busy. It took ages before someone finally came to take our order, as there was a lack of enthusiasm from the staff as they were more interested in gossiping then serving.They seemed uninterested and unwelcoming, which made the whole situation uncomfortable.

When the food finally arrived, it was fine, but the poor customer service overshadowed everything. We expected a much better experience given the hype around this place, but instead, we left feeling let down and frustrated.

Overall, the service was subpar, the wait was unreasonable, and the atmosphere was far from enjoyable. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to...

I have come here twice now and enjoyed my food each time. Nothing being a waffle with toppings for dessert and found them to be really good.

The reason for my lower review is based on staff.

The staff are seen visibly, leaving the back, walking to the front of the store, smoking or vaping with their uniform and aprons on, picking their face etc then going straight back into the kitchen cooking without washing hands.

Also the time before I was there, the staff where too busy messing around saying about the beach street staff catching them and about how bad that would be and running in and out the store like children. Thought this was very unprofessional both times.

The first time I never left a review as it was benefit of a doubt but the second time seeing what I saw made me leave this review.

Ordered a gluten free/vegan waffle along with a normal one. My food turned up with nothing labelled so there was no way of knowing which waffle was which. The sauces weren’t labelled so we couldn’t tell which was vegan and there was only one tub of ice cream (supposed to be 2) again without any label as to know if it was vegan or not. By the time we contacted the restaurant multiple times to work out what was what the waffles were cold and with the main ingredients missing for the gluten free one. I was told by the lady on the phone to request a refund through just eat but they’ve declined my refund. So I’m £20 without a waffle. Really...
