As a person with a dog, this cafe is ideally situated for our purposes. There are however, some points of concern. We can only sit outside, due to the dog and invariably find the chairs and tables covered in moisture/dew, or drenched in rain, which we have to either ask to be wiped dry, or do it ourselves. This should be done prior to opening,, so they can further dry/air naturally. We see many potential users simply turn and go away on seeing these sodden chairs and tables. In order to help, can I suggest tilting all the chairs on to the tables at night, (the drainage holes in the chairs do not solve the problem on their own, particularly if if rains). This will either cut down the amount of accumulated water or eradicate it altogether. Should this not be desired or sufficient, simply go out prior to opening and wipe all the seats and tables dry, you will get more customers and the business will thrive, I have suggested and seen this implemented this before when I worked in an outdoor cafe during my student days, and my boss rewarded me with a pay rise. Also, can tea be served in a teapot, for a hotter and more congenial experience, added to the fact that the customer would get a little extra tea for their money, its not a lot to ask for you to put more than a cup full of water into a teapot to help keep your customers happy. It is well known that during winter time there is a lowering of footfall in people sitting outside in any event. here I see customers turning and walking away due to the above issues, I am sure it would be turned on its head and improve takings by paying attention to my 'constructive critique'. I assure you that all other aspects of your cafe appear fine to me and I would love to continue my patronage. I hope this will be taken in the spirit it is designed and that it will be bourne out by these small changes in practice. If it is, fantastic, if not, then I am afraid, sadly I too will go to another...
Read moreThe building is very functional, so they’ve done a really good job to make it feel comfortable. Big terrace outside is great, weather permitting (there is no shelter from the rain despite a walk way above). Staff seem to change every day, but mostly are lovely but some seemed blank faced. It means ambience varies (sometimes music is too loud). Pleasantly surprised by the sandwiches, having read other people’s gripes. Jacket potato was okay (EDIT: I tried another, and it much better). I’ll revise stars upwards if it improves. But to my mind at 4 stars it is still pretty good, especially for the price, but easy room for...
Read moreBefore the pandemic I spent a lot of time here, mostly drinking coffee and working in the sun. They used to have a few wicker chairs which were much more comfortable than the now rusty, hard metal ones.
The drink selection has been reduced.. only sparkling fruity drinks today, coffee is still being served though. Cakes look amazing and always have done.
The terrace is a nice spot to sit and dwell but the whole place has taken a step back. The staff need some training.. simple things like providing a knife and fork with a meal appear to be too much trouble.
Give this one a miss for now, there are better...
