Marble Weybridge — Restaurant in Elmbridge

Visited Marble Lounge after lunch on 13th April for dessert. I'd only heard good things online and my family had a positive experience from a previous visit so was excited to go with them.

The good - all the food and drink we had, waffles and sundaes, was tasty and well presented. Not cheap for what it is, but happy to pay this level for a premium experience.

The bad - this wasn't a premium experience. They had literally one staff member working during our entire visit - we we there around two hours. The poor girl was single handedly responsible for handling delivery drivers, taking orders in the cafe, pouring all the drinks and making all the food. She was apologising to every customer for the wait but remained pleasant at all times. How was she allowed to man a kitchen and restaurant single handedly?

The ugly - there is only so much one person can do and, with back to back orders, she clearly had no time at all to clean up. Dirty dishes sat all over the tables and we didn't see any cleaned outside all the time we were there. Our table was clear but dirty when we arrived. Not at all hygienic.

This isn't the fault of the poor girl working, she never stopped, but how the owners could leave her alone is beyond me and not what you'd expect for a premium price. I've seen more staff on an ice cream van.

My wife noted that the place did seem somewhat tired compared to her previous visit, particularly the "shabby" toilet area.

Terrible service , booked a table for nieces bday arrived to be totally ignored by the 3 fed up looking staff including the moody manager, eventually when they bothered to look at us they told us to "put 2 tables together over there", and didn't even do it for us. Drinks took 45 mins to arrive and order was incorrect, there was only 3 people in there which is just as well as there are only 4 tables, total waste of space with giant bears taking up valuable seating space. Sadly, waffles were tasteless ,not sweet enough, way too thick and not even a sprinke of sugar dusting, so disappointing.

Just eat machine was pinging constantly very irritating, perhaps if the staff focused more on who is inside the cafe it would be a better experience. Meanwhile suggest you improve ordering process to reduce wait time, get some staff in who know how to smile and work faster, provide a welcoming atmosphere and improve the efficiency of your operations by pre preparing basic Ingredients in advance, otherwise you won't...

Gelato, as offered on the menu, a much denser and richer dessert with a lot less air than normal ice cream, however what was received, was far from it. Instead of two scoops, it turned out to be two slops of melted ice cream into a plastic tub…at full price. After a hot day, and with the absence of any air conditioning inside, then the poor chillers had no chance of keeping things frozen. The melted ice cream appeared very frothy, far from gelato, and more like just standard commercially produced ice cream. Five young staff all behind the counter, four rushing around, appearing very disorganised, trying to put together two simple looking orders ahead of me, whilst the fifth tried to resurrects a very burnt looking waffle press. Overheard one whispering they’d run out, to which another replied, just give him another of the same. Certainly no offer of an alternative. Next time I might just go to the likes of Creams or Sprinkles. Similar quality, better service, or find somewhere that actually serves...
