Itās okay⦠Firstly. I reserved a table. Requested a special occasion table and was really disappointed that they havenāt reserved or thought whereās the best place they could put us. We ended up sitting in the corridor which was really busy and not cosy at all. Secondly food. Questionable - is it Mediterranean or Turkish? Hm. The lamb was amazing but everything else was mediocre. We ate it, we were hungry from not eating all day but really nothing special. Sorry to say. Sadly drinks also disappointing and actually misleading on the menu. āFrozen margaritaā with no frost. Ended up asking for a second cocktail three times before it was delivered. Very watery. Probably forgotten completely. I was also given the impression this is an authentic Turkish place, again - branded Mediterranean but Turkish. I was talking to the waiter in Turkish, at first I wondered as he just walked away. Second abs third times became clear he didnāt understand a word or even he didnāt question me at all. Very awkward. At the end I decided to give one last try, this time their baklava and the two pieces they served (with ice cream - a big no no) were completely different in taste and texture. Good effort on their part, itās really difficult to make it nowadays, and a lot of people will not notice, but I would stick to fewer items on the menu, making those right first, before moving onto other bits⦠and if the waiters are admitting that the chef canāt cook deserts and they have to order them from turkey - just take them off the menu! Or get someone that can actually make that. Baklava is dead easy to make, we make this with our eyes closed where I am from. A lot of us have moved out to countries like the UK. Good atmosphere, but I would not go there for the food. Sorry. Native people will not be happy. Iām happy to cook you a full blown authentic meal, make the baklava as well and you will lick both the plates and all your fingers, and I am not even a...
Read moreHad this been our first visit to try this new restaurant, we would definitely not return. The management or a waiter (he is Turkish and the tallest one working on Monday 27th at night), acted like a manager in there! He was not bothered to do anything about the atrociously rude and unprofessional staff. He SIGHED AT US LOUDLY after we asked for some missing items from the order. He did not serve the dip, bulgur, or rice unless we asked. He should have informed us at first when we ordered what was missing and offered options to substitute it. Finally, we got the dip and bread at the end! He never asked about food allergies and intolerances. The good thing is the food was nice, but the cocktails were not nice at all (we ordered a long island iced tea and a sexy turkish). I recommend going to drink at No.39 bar, The Queen's Head, or Giggling Squid instead as they are much better. He also served us warmed beer twice. He seemed not to care at all. However, our total bill was £147 without a service charge. We have never done like this before. This is our first time to take the service charge off. We were so disappointed! For this reason, I rate the restaurant 1 star because there is a lack of customer service. I would not recommend dining here as they treat black customers really poorly, like we are beggars. That is why we did not bother to give any penny of our service charge or ever want to stay longer. Will I return? NEVER! You have been warned. I wish I had looked on here before going...lesson learned. Beware of this guy (he will ruin...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time visiting (it was 3 weeks since they launched when we visited).
Forst and foremost the food was delicious- EVERY SINGLE ITEM! (Perhaps just the hummous I have had better elsewhere)
Was so impressed to hear the owner was the chef himself!
Truly amazing food (yes prices are higher than equivalent Turkish meals on average) but is justified by the higher quality of taste!
I am not usually a shish person but the mixed lamb and chicken shish (which my partner ordered)- I ended up eating half of his. Sooooo tender and the flavour so intense from the meat itself (i.e. no overpowering spices). Just great natural food flavours.
We also had the mixed cold starters- again unusual and wonder flavours different from other Turkish places (and believe me I have been to plenty of turkish restaurants, and even ate local food in Turkey when visited).
I had the cheese and tomato pide- again the best I have had even though it is the basic of flavours/ toppings. Love that the bottom of the pide was served crispy- often goes soggy quickly.
Just amazing. Thank you chef, thank you team.
Also must come back and keep sampling from such a diverse menu, was impressed with the range of choices, even pastas and other cuisines incorporated...
