3rd visit here in last 9 months tells its own story which is on whole we like the place, see it as a good local addition, the staff are friendly and the whole idea os very well intentioned.
However must be honest about latest visit and hope it serves as good advice.
We arrived having booked and were told after we had already spent a good amount of time reading the menu that it was only the evening menu now available despite the time being 115 and the menu in my hand saying other things were on till 3.
The reason given for this was flimsy, something about we cannot have everything on at once etc which didn't really make sense to me and why advertise it that it is?
Food was decent enough and nice drinks at a good price but not sure the pizzas are as good as the flat breads you used to do.
It seems like the menu keeps changing and also there is no single source of truth as to what it its with online editons staying one thing and the actual one being different.
Really hope this place succeeds but a bit of an odd experience yesterday think things need tightening up and place needs to decide what...

We recently had the pleasure of attending Greek Night at Sojo’s in Acomb, York, and what an absolute treat it was! From start to finish, the experience was divine.
The food — crafted by the talented Chef Philip — was bursting with authentic Mediterranean flavour. Every dish was beautifully prepared and thoughtfully presented. The Greek wine and beer pairings elevated the entire meal, enhancing every bite with perfect balance and flair.
The evening was made even more special by the warm and welcoming hospitality of Sophie and Joe, who hosted the night with such charm and attention to detail. The atmosphere was spot on — lively, relaxed, and full of heart. It truly felt like we’d been transported to a Greek taverna.
Sojo’s is a real gem, and Greek Night was an unforgettable experience. Huge credit to Chef Philip and hosts Sophie and Joe for creating something so special. We’ll definitely be back....
Read moreWe were looking for somewhere to grab lunch in Acomb on a Saturday and decided to check out Sojo's after seeing their menu. However, our experience was disappointing from the start. As we walked in, we could hear the staff talking about us—trying to guess whether we were going to stay or not—without realising we could hear every word. It didn’t create a great first impression.
I ordered the goat’s cheese salad, which was £9. I was expecting a generous portion of goat’s cheese with the usual accompaniments like cucumber, tomato, walnuts, etc. Instead, it arrived as a bed of plain lettuce with a few shreds of goat’s cheese, a handful of crushed walnuts, and some tinned pear. Honestly, it looked more like something I’d serve to a guinea pig.
My partner had the BLT, which tasted fine—until we found a large hair in it.
Unfortunately, the whole experience felt like a letdown. We really wanted to like it, but we won’t be...
